nsx needs some work
Re: nsx needs some work
Actually, that is the performance for the "regular" Vette, and a loaded coupe stickers for around that price, with no discount. In fact, with some of the deep discounts they are currently offering, you could get a mildly optioned coupe for close to 40k which makes it a relative bargain.
I think that Motorweek tested an anniversary C5 ragtop with the standard rear gear ratio and it ran a 13.6 @ 106 or something. And thats the "slowest" Vette being the ragtop and having the non performance rear axle.
I like the NSX -- especially since it hasn't changed much over the years. What that means is that I could eventually afford a used one and it wouldn't look that different from a new one
Of course now they've gone and made some serious revisions to the exterior, but its still a nice car.

If you all you care about is the 1/4 mile and power per dollar ratio, just go out and get a 2003 Cobra. The NSX wasn't designed to be a drag racer, so all the "NSX is underpowered; NSX is slow" comments are pointless.
The NSX is one of the most refined and most-fun-to-drive exotics around. Would I pay $80k for a new one? Well probably, no. But it's a one-of-a-kind vehicle that drives like a dream. You can't just look at the hp and torque #'s and use that to evaluate the car.
EVO Magazine's assessment of the 2003 NSX Type R was that it was the greatest sports car ever made in the history of automobiles. Jenson Button (Formula 1 driver for BAR Honda) recently drove an NSX-R around the Twin Ring Motegi racetrack on his tour of Japan and came to the same conclusion.
