Question Integra question... 01 GSR or 02 WRX

I'm looking for a car to replace my '02 Civic. I like the car but not enough to want to keep it. I've been looking at various used cars and have narrowed it down to either an Integra GS-R or a WRX.

I'm trying to keep my payments under $300 a month because I don't want my car to own me. Please don't suggest the STi or a new RSX-S. I like both but out of my price range at the moment. I'm trying to be sensible and live with-in my means.

I found an '01 GS-R with 37k miles on it selling for $15,500. Is this a good price? I don't know because I've never bought a used car before.

I've also found an '02 WRX at a dealer with 21k miles and selling for $19,990. I would prefer the WRX for the turbo and the AWD. However the extra $4,500 in price is a big drawback.

So I guess my question is, which would you get? What is a good price for the above mentioned GS-R? Both cars are 5-speeds.

Thanks for the help.

if you can hack the extra 4500 in the car payments go for the wrx, there is as much modablility to that car as a honda. Awd will save you when you get in some lose situations.

integra- yest that is a good price i picked mine up for 16,900 with 37k and it is a 1998, just make sure it is stock when you pick it up. also 2001 is obd II.I (obd 3) which means it wont have the power gain of obd 2 or obd1. obd 1 owns all. but 2001 integra has a feature with the keys that they contain chips in them. Makes the keys about 30-35$ a piece to have copied at dealerships only. Won't start the car without the chip in it.

i was supposed to get a WRX but things didnt go as planned. my plan now is to get a '94-95 teg GSR. im not too worried about the very high mileage cuz im gonna rebuild it. itegra GSRs are hard to find especially 94-95, and the WRXs are quick but still kinda expensive. i say go with the GSR and use the 4500 u save from buying thw WRX to upgrade the GSR!!

i'd go with the gsr, with the money u save on the wrx (4500) use that to get a turbo

If you're concerned about price, I'd get the Integ. But insurance for a GS-R could be higher than the WRX.

Actually you're right and you're wrong. In terms of the most stolen car in the US period happen to be two/three of the best selling cars in the US... Accord/Camry/Corrola.

If you're talking about the most stolen car in the U.S. per insurance claims, the Integra ranks #1.

i guess it could be more expensive... but the insurance companies freak when they hear TURBO... i pay less than 200 for my car... i called my insurance company to ask how much insurance would be if i got a wrx... (btw i have 1 point on record) and they said something like 400 something... cuz they asked if it was turbo... i said yep... and the price hiked like crazy... i guess that's what happens when you're 20 and try to get insurance on a turbo charged car

I haven't checked the insurance rates for the GS-R yet. However, the WRX would only cost me $5 more a month than my Civic. I have a feeling the 'teg will be a bit more than the WRX per month. I need to pay my insurance provider a visit in the next few days.

I'm leaning toward the WRX, however if that is the case I may wait till the end of the summer to save more money for a larger down payment.

Thanks for the info. I feel the AWD will also be good for me in winter, bad driving conditions, etc and will try and get together the extra cash needed for the WRX. If for some reason something gets in the way of that then I'll be going for the GS-R.

Thanks again for the information.

I actually like the SRT-4. However, I'm hoping to actually keep this upcoming car for longer than my previous cars because it may have to last me through the rest of my undergrad and possibly med school.

The first car I owned was a '98 Plymouth Neon and it had no problems till I hit 56,000 miles. Then it had a steady diet of repairs that forced me to sell the car. So I'm not against an SRT-4, just not sure I'd keep it longer than the warranty, and I don't want to be in the position of having to find a new car again in 3 years. Of course i say this now but the longest I've kept a car in recent years has been 15 months, so.... well see.

if i were to compare 3 cars:
subaru wrx sti
Mitubishi evo vIII
Dodge Neon Srt-4

there is only one difference that will kill 1 car(srt-4). The first two listed are awd. Which means auto-x that dodge won't stand a chance. also the others are better for winter conditions to grip the road. Road and Track rated the Evo over the Sti. I still prefer the Sti personally since subaru has has the awd longer.

Bad thing about awd cars in general. you get a flat tire. Tire companies are starting to say no to selling you a single tire. you will have to buy a full set regardless on mileage on tires because transfer cases have been breaking and not waranteed because not all tires were changed.
