got a decision to make, help me out

Alrighty, i'm in the middle of an important decision. I have an 01 Civic EX 4door auto currently that i've been thinking of trading in for a while for a newer 02 2door 5spd. I couldn't afford an 02, so I was looking at this 01 I saw (look below) Well, I was talking to my boy and he brought up a good point. What's really the point of trading my car in for a 5speed civic, I might as well get a different car, so the thought of me having a integra gsr really sounded good. To sum it all up and make a long story short, here's my options.

A: I found a 01 civic ex coupe 5speed at the dealer with about 7k more miles on it than mine (me having about 33k, the car having about 39) and the difference after the trade in would be 2995 + all the taxes and stuff. THis way, I can keep all of my mods that I currently did to my car, but not really have a faster car.

or

B: Put my car on auto shopper or something and sell it with all of my mods I have done to it and get MORE money for it then buy my GSR. Few downpoints here. I don't know how fast my car would sell, and I don't quite know how much I could get for it. Also, I don't know how fast I can get that GSR because they seem to be a rarity around here now.

SO, I don't know what to do, trade in car and get the same year but coupe with 5speed and keep my mods, or sell my car and get a gsr which will probably be an enternity. HELP! I really don't know what to do. Thoughts/comments/suggestions all welcome

look on autotrader for the gsr? some used car companies have them and then maybe trade your car to them for the gsr? but personally if you are wanting to buy a different car why not wait it out for 2 more years or so.... there will be a lot of new cars coming out =) so then you won't be upside down on your car when you trade it in so you actually go out on top instead of piling more money on top of new/used car. personally i would wait the extra 2 years so i am not upside down on my car and also new cars will be out which of course there will be one that you want and then BAM go in tarde ur vic in and get into your new car that is hopefully fast and stylish at the same time -=]

I have a 2002 civic ex 5speed and I love it. Of course, its not fast, but I still love it. It really depends on what you want to do. Look at it this way:
You trade in your car, you get an 01 civic, and its a cut and dry deal. Although you lose some money. If you want to sell your car, with all its mods, you will get some money, but no one is to say how much seeing that it does have 33,000miles on it. And I know that when I was looking for a car, I was more willing to check out the ones with low mileage, even if they didnt have any mods, over the cars with higher mileage and mods. But not everybody thinks like me.
Basically, its up to you. Do a quick trade and get a new car fast, or try to sell the one you got and HOPE that it sells fast. But heres the opinion I have: Get the 01 coupe. They are fun to drive, and they look hot. Thats what i think!

IT all depends on if you require a car at all times, if not then sell it and grab a GSR but you are lookin at a car with a LOT more mileage than you already have, yea its a Honda but still more miles. Me personally i would keep the car you have and if you really want to trade it in wait a few more years then see what the market has to offer.

Are you upside down on your current vehicle?

Your car should be worth more than the 01 5spd you are looking at because it has less miles and is an auto. I don't get why you would pay an additional 3 grand for a car that has more miles and the less expensive trans option.

That's a terrible deal unless I am missing or minunderstanding something.

The gsr will cost ya a good bit more as far as insurance and gas as they use premium. They are somewhat hard to find as well. They don't make a ton of them and people seem to keep them for several years as well. You can find good examples with low mileage though.

If it were me, I definately wouldn't do the current trade-in deal as they are trying to rip ya a new one. I'd sell outright and go with the gsr if you are wanting speed.

Guy told me since I painted some interior trim parts, the value depreciated greatly and there was atleast a "thousand dollars of damage and replacement" Even still, I highly doubt the painting of trim pieces will equate to a g.

I need to have a car at all times, which is why I'm a bit weary on the selling independantly issue, then finding a gsr.

jeez who woudl've thought that this would be so difficult.

Well, even if there was a g of damage, that still doesn't get you to a 3 grand difference....the guy is trying to tear ya a new one...it's his job to do so...

You could simply buy a trim overlay set to remedy that problem.

Your car is worth more because it has less miles and it has that auto tranny. Of course, the dealer has to resell yours as well so they can't give you top dollar for it. I'd say give them $1000 at the most. That is for saving you the trouble of private selling and all that stuff....They make a grand off selling you the new car and they will make a few on your old one when it sells. 3grand is just way to much unless you have other stuff needing repair outside of the trim peices.

Edit: Oh, and it that 2995 price the initial offering or is that after a couple hrs of haggling?

yeah that guy is out to make money at your expense. take a look at other dealers and see if they'll give you a better deal, because your car should be of either equal value, or a bit higher. worse comes to worse and do what Mbow said and by the trim pieces you painted. should be able to find them on the internet for cheaper than the dealer, certainly not $1000 for all of what you painted.
