~11-12 million give or take a few. It takes quite a bit of cash. You will spend a lot just for the inventory that sits on your lot. Imagine several hundred cars and multiply by an avg cost and then you'll start to see the total cost.
You have to buy/lease the land, build the building, buy a computer system to keep track of everything....etc.............A lot of cash....I would like to have one myself............................................ .............

A lot of money. If you are seriously intrested and have good personal credit, start talking to Honda of America. I am sure that banks will be more inclinded to loan you some cash to open a car dealership than...say a donut shop.

no, my family friend of mine is comming back from the navy, and he has $$$ up the wazzoo for being a nuclear engineer and all those extra bonus for signing up with the navy for 20 years + his monthly pay. with him being out in sea 10 out of the 12 months in a year, all the money he made is in the bank.. building interest
he has decided to settle down and become a recuirting officer for the navy. and as a side thing, he wants to open a car dealership, whatever car brand i am going for automotive engineering. (i've decided to take the t-ten, a certification for toyota) and there is no lexus dealership in my city, so we are thinking about opening a lexus dealership...?

Lexus....OUCH!
The local lexus dealer here in charlotte just remodeled. They spent ~$8M on the project and it incorporated the old building. They also have over 100 cars just for customers to use while their cars are in for service. Yeah, that's several million just in those 100 lexuses.
I will guarantee that you will need other investors to do it. You will need people with a lot of automotive experience, like a current lexus dealer GMs. You have to remember that you basically apply to open a franchise.

it costs a lot of money to start. in my opinion it would be worth it if you know the place would be successful. you could get your car for cost and have all your maintance work done for nothing or cost.
