Civic hatches...

Okay guys, can someone help me figure out what the difference between each model on the 5th gen civic hathes(92-95) are...im lookin to buy one and well, few people i have talked to have different models and i wanna know the difference...If im correct they had the DX, CX, VX, and SI for the hatches right not in any particular order...but can someone tell me the difference between all of them, i think i know that SI at the time had pw, ps, pl and snrf but not sure wat motor...etc...so someone lay it down what is diff in each year, diff in features and motor and wat year would be best to get if there is a diff between 92-95 thanx guys

PS, this guys sellin a VX hatch with 96 ITR motor in it for 6500, motor has bout 50K on it....what shud I do to see if hes lying about motor like what shud i check for ? I guess i could do compression test right? b.c. he bought motor from junk yard, and he admits he races it once in while, so i wanna know if i gotta rebuld it right away u know thanx guys

96 ITR motor... I assume it's JDM. That's hella overpriced for such a high mileaged motor. Check for engine code. If I'm not mistaken, the JDM engine code is B18C3.

I can only say that the Si has rear disc brakes.

Anyone else could be more help than me right now.

im kinda of a type-r fan and to dragoon itrs came out in japan in 96 (only itrs with a bolt pattern of 4x114.3 just a little info, the years later the rest came in 5 lug), and us itrs started in 97 then 98 no 99 then in 2000 and last one in 2001. and to Tiki jdm motors are b18c no number after c, US itrs had b18c5 and europe itrs are b18c6.

dragoon i dont know anything bout the jdm sir (isnt that the gsr over here in the us?) but i know that the JDM itr motor is stamped B18C. but if you really know your b series engine you should know the difference of the two engines just by looking at it.

other than the valve cover and slightly different intake manifolds, i wouldn't have a clue other than by looking at the stamping, unless i got to look inside.

oh and a compression test will basically check if the motor is in good shape, but i'm not paying 6500 for that, swap or not. unless it's a moderately built engine, and both engine and car are in pristine condition, that is. knock him down to about 4000-4500
