Integras in 1/2 not too humorous. My Highschool Class's Valedictorian wrapped his car around a tree at about 103 mph a month b4 graduation. The end result was not good. Which also reminds me.. i got a ticket last week - 68 in a 45 - wasn't really worth it, made me even later for work =\ I make love my cruise control now =)

because they always seem to race at places they shouldn't? and because honda produce cars with too soft sheet metal?
1st example: my friend put a dent the size of a penny on my car shooting a low power spring loaded bb gun. i did the same to his grand am, because he said go ahead since he dented mine, and it did nothing to his body.
2nd example: same friend, a civic also side swiped him, his car only has a couple creases and minor scratches, the civic lose it's whole sides from the rear quarter pannel up to the rear view mirror
3rd example: another of my friend owns a 7thgencivic, and one of my other friend's girl owns a is300. the is300 backed into the civic when she was pulling out, the front of the civic has to be replaced, the is has no dammage besides some paint chip on the is300

I totaled my integra at 70mph by crashing into a brand new celica and it the integra almost looked new after the accident. The frame and body did buckle a little. I don't think it has much to do with the integra's structure per se, I think it has to with the amt of integras involved in serious accidents.
The sheet metal doesn't have much to do with the vehicle's ability to stand up to an accident. The civic does have a 5 start crash rating.

Actually upon looking at the picture closer I would say the rescue workers cut that car in half. The roof is way extended back in a section as if they were being carefull not to hit the people trapped inside.

I think they rip in half because of inelastic collision principal. You figure every car has survivable crash speed be it head rear ect. The amout energy transfer to the car's body in a crash is way out of allowed tolerance. The body frame stops crupleing then tries to rotate around the object the front still going forward while the back tries to go perpendicular to the front.
All this could be wrong. But basicly the integra has a lower tolerance then other cars. I think the four door would be the one that would break in half. As think about the old vetts had the same problem.

Not all integras rip in half. One of my best friends Type R didn't rip in half, but he was still killed along with the other 3 people in the car. In the pic its after the cut the roof off.

it depends on the extent of the accident IMO, every car is gonna get fuc ed up going 70 or even 103 mph into a fricken tree or roll over. Ours are just more sensitive to the little ****.
