Integra LS

My bro's Maxima is now effectively dead. It overheated this morning on his way the the SAT (conveniently in front of my parents' mechanic), but my Dad swore not to put another dime into the car, so its new car time.
Obvious question that came from my bro, "What car should I get?"
First thing I said was an Integra LS.
Why?
He's 16... think of the insurance on a GSR.
Its gotta be a fun car
Its going to be easy to learn how to drive (5 speed is gonna be a must)
Modable to hell (B series.. can't ask for more)
I don't want him beating my *** too badly.
Its a Honda.

Can anyone give me one good reason why this is not a good piece of advice.... cuz I can't think of one.

I agree with the above completely except that I might consider an RS but other then that.....very good advice

reliable, fun to drive, cost efficient....16 year olds shouldn't be driving GS-R's.....insurance is way too much and I think base model Integra or even a civic should be a car for them to learn how to really drive. I started driving at 15, didn't get my driver's license until i was 17 but I bought a 84 CRX as my first car...totaled that in an accident, next car was a 86 CRX..sold it to a friend to make a down payment on my GS-R. Now that I can respect driving and understand the saying that driving is a privilage not a right, I feel more comfortable that I will try and avoid accidents rather than causing them.

Yes, tell him to get a RS integra. Why a RS instead of a LS you say? One reason. Its lighter. It doesn't have a of the power options that the LS has, but it still has the B18 non-Vtec in it.

I was thinking about trading my civic for my cousins Ls integra. I haven't decided but if i were to get the integra i have some ideas for you. Go Ls vtec and put a B16A or B18C1 head, Ls turbo or swap a Ge'sr in their. I hope that helped. But the 1st two ideas are going to be a lot of maintance

only integras with VTEC are the GS-R and the Type R, the rest use the B18B Non-VTEC....(still an excellent platform to work with)

they are actually referring to the GS-R when they are refering to integras...the other models aren't being stolen as much...and the integra isn't the most stolen car in the US....it's not even in the top 3....the correct saying is; the most stolen per insured... I believe the accord, camry and corolla are the most stolen in the US but that's because there are so many of them. The GS-R is like 5th on that list and the other models are like 11th. But the integra is getting 22.4 per 1000 insured claims for theft. The next one on that list is only like 14.? per 1000 insured. So you know how many people want that motor.

Due to compression ratio, I'll have to say it is perhaps the best platform to work on out of all B series engines but of course that depends on one's preference on how they'd want to build up a motor. It should be realized widely by now that the B18B is the most boost friendly B engine.

the b18b may be the best platform to work with if your going turbo but if your staying all-motor, I'd stick with the b18C........proof it's the best (Erick Aguilar's all-motor civic, also labeled the world's fastest all motor civic 10.07 @ 132?? mph....uses the B18C1...i've posted the same thing in another thread)
