Do you want to go the all-motor route or the turbo route
GSX's are faster than GSR's stock, and they are alot easier and CHEAPER to make go fast
Depends what you want bro. I see you live in Chicago so that AWD would do you some good.
they are both great platforms to start with

Go with the GSX. A good friend of mine has one. It's AWD and stock turbo. He put in about $2K in the engine and he is hauling a$$. I love Hondas and especially the Integra but I would buy a GSX in a heart beat.

as a GS-R owner myself, I'm a little bias.
but like everyone said...the b18c1 is an excellent platform....you can easily get 250-300 whp without touching the bottom end. Reliability of the C1 motor is also excellent...however with any car you must keep it properly maintained...the motor is not invincible, remember that. There is alot of R&D done for any integra and modifications are easy to come by, something you are not experiencing with the 7thgen. Besides the engine....the interior of the integra is fairly comfortable...the civic is a little more comfortable...the integra seats hug you a little more but not that much more. The GS-R is fully loaded so you will have the comforts of A/C a sunroof and almost power everything. If you get the integra, you'll get a luxury sports coupe that is fun to drive and easy to maintain...besides revving to 8100 RPM's is an experience of it's own..
The GSX is also a great car...there are more recalls on the GSX then there is the GS-R...but with a stock turbo upgrading is very easy...with just an addition of a turbo timer you can probably get a good 30-40 extra whp, but after a few upgrades you will want to definitely start building up the bottomend. It's almost inevitable...another thing about GSX's are tranny difficulties but i'm don't have any experience first hand but that's what i've heard. The interior of the eclipse is very small, it's not meant for very tall people. If you plan to drive more then 3, then hope the person sitting in the back is small or doesn't care. If you get the GSX, you'll get a fast car right off the lot, very easy to upgrade.
All in all, both cars are excellent to work with, you just have to decide what you want, both cars can be made extremely fast, you'll have an easier time doing it with the GSX but both can be made into 11-12 second cars if willing to do the work. In my opinion, I think I made the right decision when buying the GS-R.
Hope that helps...

I'd go for the gsr over the gsx every day of the week. Reliability is my main reason. The teg is also a little bit bigger and the back seat can actually be used if necessary. Plus, if you like the high-revving engines and haven't been in a gsr yet, oh buddy, you'll fall in love.
I also like the conservative styling of the teg over the eclipse.
Are you really going to do some major mods or try to make the car substantially faster than stock? Most people talk swaps, turbos, etc., but never come anywhere near doing such a thing. If this is you, go for the gsr, if you like your civic, you'll absolutely love the teg.
Oh, don't forget that the gsr uses PREMIUM gas only. A minimum of ~92 octane is required.
I was going to get rid of my vic for one but it's just not practical for me. The wife/we need an odyyssey.

im not gonna make the teg extremely fast, but fast enough. low 13s-high 12s will be a solid goal for me. im not gonna have that kind of money to be spending on extreme mods and build up a shitload of debts like many other people. good thing theres 93octane in chicago.
going all-motor is better suited for a daily driver in the city right? or am i wrong??

with an all motor car....you will keep some of your lowend power (not much there in the first place..but you won't have to rev to 4000 rpm's to get off the line.)
minimum octane for the GS-R is 91...any lower your ECU will retard your timing to prevent it from detonation so you'll be fine...but don't make a habit of it..actually, try not to do it at all....LOL.
I will tell you now, getting the teg into the 12's, you will definitely need a turbo...well, that's the easy way to do it. It can be done all motor but it's going to take alot more effort...13's is obtainable with the basic boltons and a 75 shot of nos(don't shoot anymore before you build up your bottom end) A more realistic goat would be mid 13's. that's plenty fast, you should be hitting the 1/4 in triple digit speed...probably 104 mph.

you may have to look towards forced induction... With the JRSC alone, it probably wouldn't take much to beat him but with the 50 shot of N2O, you will have some problems....I'd say you can still do it staying N/A...but you'll still be spending quite a few bills.
but, hey hobbies are expensive....

you can make a car go fast and still have it extremely reliable, granted you will be spending large amounts of money and spending lots of time on it but those are the things you want to do if you modify your car.....
picture this; let's say you have a B18c1 powerplant to work with, you upgrade the valvetrain, replace the stock valve springs with titanium valve springs....etc...pretty much build the motor to rev to 11,000 RPM's and run 20 psi...but when it's time to race, you only run it at 9-11 psi and rev it to 9k-10k RPM's, if properly tuned, you will still be hitting 250-300 whp. which would put you well into the 13's...as long as your able to keep the power on the ground that is. So the car stays reliable because your only running it at half it's potential.. that's like racing with a stock GS-R and only revving it to 4000 RPM's...that's like driving miss daisy...LOL
I used to own a GSX...they are so quick....what I suggest for you to do that most people dont do besides upgrading to Bigger turbo perhaps 16G is...head swap from 2nd gen to 1st gen head, 1st gen head is lot stronger and better cams so u will see better results in performance, ive seen few people with 2nd clipse with jus boost controller and 1st gen head run mid 14's

... now i really want the teg.. i totally forgot bout their 8100 redline
... thanx for the help and your inputs!
