1/4 mile and drag in auto

so what is the best way getting the fastest time without killing the tranny and brake?

do i leave it in D4 all the time and stepped on the gas?
or D3?
or gear 2?
or gear 1?
or take off with 2 then gradually shift to 3 when speed increase then 4?
or take off at D3 and when the speed increase, jump to D4?

someone please educate me please
thanks

i don't think there's a difference in putting the shifter in D3 or D4 when drag racing... our autos might not even shift to 3rd on the 1/4 mile... DO NOT put it in 2 since you'll be lugging your engine all throughout... and wait, there's no selector for 1... i remember there's a drag racing with auto thread somewhere here...

just leave your auto in d3/4 and mash your pedal all the wayyyy down... you might want to torque-brake, but it'll ruin ur tranny/brake

Upgraded torque convertors will give you a better time. But im not sure that it would be worth the money.
