Try PMing InjenCivic. He's a cop. I think that if they increase your rates like that, they can only apply it to the next billing period. I know ex post facto is illegal, so I don't see why this wouldn't be.

well i'm 21 and have also had my license for 3 years. i have no accidents, 1 minor ticket and that's it. i've been insured with this company since my beginners....i even took the 1000 deductable to save me money. I'M PAYING $329 PER MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i called state farm to see what they would do for me and the gave me a great quote:

"$5500 a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" THATS $458 PER MONTH!!!!!!!!!! for 1 vehicle, 1 driver, driving less than 15000 km a year with a thousand dollar deductable, and the only bad record bieng a single ticket a year ago........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

these friggin people are crazy how do they expect us to drive at all with $400 insurance payments monthly. i envy all you who's parents put it in there name....mine wont for god knows what reason......so i guess i'm screwed with a 10foot pole. DAMNIT

Welcome to Civic Insurance Land, and modern times.

Both of our rates here went up, Farmers says its because the industry has seen rising costs. My Civic went from 425 to 485 for 6 months (29, no tickets or accidents). I too carry a thousand deduct.

FWIW, when I sold my WRX and got the Civic, it was during the previous 6mo period, and the insurance on the WRX was 60 bucks cheaper for 6 mos...

yeah *** my insurance coz they want 300 a month and i am 22. one reckless driving coz on my previous car, my rear right popped, i spun outta control on the icey bridge, knocked down the I-75 sign in michigan, and the cops checked my skids and said i was doing 10 over. (75 on a 65) and a cop was behind me the whole time. 4 points for reckless driving, 3 points for speeding = 7 points total. total cost of fines $380.

man , i can feel you dudes, but i did a little trick to get off from paying such high premiums. i first switched from sate farm 450 per month, and join up with a no name bs company with only liabilty, six months later i came back to state farm and only have to fork over 140 per month now. They clean up your records when you leave. so when you come back its like your brand new.

well i assume anyone with a really low premium is either under there parents insurance or older than 25. this is shat really........i dunno. i'm surprised anyone under 25 can even afford to drive.....how do they expect us too. Geez i just did an online quote from belair for a yugo and they wanted 225 a month!!!!! seems that the type of car doesnt matter. my one friend of same age and record pays 160 for his saturn. AND I KNOW THAT CIVICS ARE CHEAPER TO FIX. how's that cause my sis backed into one and cracked a fender and broke a headlight....they wanted 2000 to fix it. 2 companies gave that qoute. they wanted 600 for painting!!!!!!!!!!!!!. WHICH IS TOTAL BULLSHT. 330 a month my ***

Canada is getting hit hard-The insurance company is calling it a "surcharge". A friend of mine had a list of cars. CL Type-S is being hit 100%!!!! Double your previous amount. Sport Bikes 25% I can't remember the others...it's freakin crazy. Hondas are good on gas and all that but zhit that much for insurance counteracts any type of savings there is. Selling it if it goes up any more.

thats all a contract between you and the company, thats not a crime, its a civil matter, you just need to switch insurance companies. Personally insurance companies are a joke

Hmm,

I didn't think you could legally do this.

Also, if your license is suspended, why not get some kind of insurance for a car that is just sitting? I mean if your license is suspended, you arent supposed to be driving, and I'm sure the insurance company would give you some kind of insurance to protect the car while it sits...

The only thing they MIGHT let you take off is Underinsured/Uninsured covereage. Even if the car is sitting and not supposed to be driven, there is still the possibility of it being hit or damged. A friend of mine was Moving to Hawaii temporaroly and was only taking one car. His insureance company would not let him knock down his coverage even though his car was going to be parked in a protected, gated, storage facility.

Try switching over to progressive auto insurance, I'm on it for $300 for 6months, and that is full coverage, with rental and roadside assistance. They have always been there and they have always filed my claim and had a check back to me within the same day. They are great never had my insurance hiked up as much as you guys are talking about here either.

How do you check how many points you have? Do you just ask the insurance company?
