yup. it's not all about speed.

and sadboy, are you talking about a 2002 Firebird with an LS1 engine? (the V8) If so, then actually about 13 flat would be the best one could do. However, your average joe will probably get mid-high 13's.

I did... both the V6 and the V8. (This was when I knew nothing about the car.) The V8 6-speed put bus lengths on me. (Then i started liking this car, hehe... it sounded so sweet.) Then I raced a V6 auto - first race he beat me by a car length and a half... second race I walked him. This was earlier this year.

LS1 though.... too bad they discontinued it.

You're right, I was thinking regular trans am. I was really considering a formula a couple years back too. Now the closest thing is the new GTO.

I beat an ls1, it had two flat tires and was only running on 6 cylinders.
He didn't know what hit him. It was VTEC.

What exactly is the difference between the Formula and the Trans Am? Is it just like the difference between a Z28 and an SS?

The Formula is the V8 performance goodies without the luxury crap In the older style, the T/A had all the ground effects, while the Formula had the cleaner, V6 body

Not necessarily. That statement is correct in terms of price. In terms of performance, its a tossup between the T/A and the Formula. The Formulas are generally a little lighter (no leather, usually no t-tops, no power seat).

So, in reality, its Firehawk > (T/A = Formula)> Firebird

Anywhere in the 13s depending on the driver. 14s if they suck (Like I did the first time I was at the track )

My best ET is in Sig when she was stock (well almost stock, rated 345hp) Only diff between mine and a regular Formula is the smooth SLP lid, the Dual-Dual SLP exhaust (dual-dual because there are two exhaust pipes, and two exhaust tips per pipe), the hood, and 17s.

With Nitto DRs and suspension mods I've done over the past few months I'm hoping to get low to mid 13s easy out of her if I can learn how to launch.

i/h/e isn't going to net you the biggest gains off the bat. The car is already putting down more power than it can get to the ground. Upgrade the suspension, upper and lower control arms, subframes, some DRs and maybe a lower gear ratio (ok not a suspension mod ).

no i am not going to go autocrossing but i am aiming for 600+ tq. the car is going to be a project plus i plan to keep it forever so eventually there will be suspension mods.
