Question about Integras...

Well, Im buyin a new car soon and wanted to ask to aquainted about the choices...ive decided to get either a GSR(94-01) or LS INteg...if I can find one my price range is 7-10K or around there but Ive been thinking I wanted to get a LS and drop a b18c5 head on top of that...was wonderin if anyone knew wat the advantages of LS was to GSR, I know lots of you would say just get a GSR but I know few peoploe with LS VTEC and that thing takes off....Here are few ??'s I had

1) whats the block code on LS's?
2) 1/4 times stock and with Type R head?
3) what kinda hp should I expect with a stock LS block w/ a Type R head?
4) Would Type R head be best one to throw onto LS block?
5) Whats so good about the LS's? seems like lots of racers like to work with Ls's rather than GSR's and Type R's..
6) Is there a specific year Ls's are better than others? cus my friend told me I think 95 or96 was the best years for integs cus their motors or something can take a lotta performance mods and react best to mods thanks guys

I forgot a lot of my knowledge on Integs...
but the LS motor is the best motor to turbocharge. why? lowest compression plus no VTEC. no VTEC = better FI? well...its jus easier to turbocharge because theres less to tinker with.

well i plan to turbocharge it eventually but how about all motor, are the ls's reasonable speed to work with all motor? im lookin to get a new head from acura b18c5 get some new injectors and cams i/h/e and im not sure but would it be better to keep stock pistons on the block? or change to like CTR or ITR pistons...I obviously know that would raise compression but jus wondering....what kinda times id be lookin at my friend told me stock ls vtec with either b16 or b18 wil bolt ons run about high 14's thanks guys.....oh no vtec = better fI? wats FI? Fuel injection? sorri not familar with car abbrv's thanks guys

My first car was an Integra LS (or RS? don't remember). Although it was an '88... The GSR is the 2nd best Integra you can get. Either way I don't think it's a good idea to turbocharge a car with stock internals. If you do that, you'll have to set the psi so low it's not worth the money. A massaged engine will produce enough horses to hold you over till the turbo.

Alright here we go.

If you are going to get the LS and want a VTEC head swap there are a few things you should know.

1. Its not just a simple slap the head on and lets rock affair you need to do a few things to insure it runs properly.

You need to plug the oil feed on the head and make sure its done right and have the dowels also drilled properly.
You need a good LS VTEC hardware kit and it would hurt to get a oil pressure gauge to be on the safe side.

Next i would order a Z10 block girddle to help keep everything in the engine from vibrating too much. if you run CTR pistons expect high compression which is good for all motor if you plan on running the ITR cams in the head and the CTR pistons you might want to check out the valve to piston clearnace just to be on the safe side.

Look into 97+ prelude injectors, JDM ITR header, bored TB, Intake, Test pipe and exhaust, and probably a V-AFC and you would have a 14 sec all motor LS VTEC

Also to get CTR pistons on to the LS rods take them to a machine shop you have to remove 1mm off the rods for them to fit.

Now if you pick up a GS-R you can go all motor or boost only thing that might hurt you all motor wise is the intake manifold of the GSR but you can buy a ITR style manifold from Skunk2.

The LS is also good for boost, get a turbo, intecooler, all your piping and exhaust, 550cc injectors and Hondata and you can proably make 350hp (crank) on all stock internals if not more long as its properly tuned.

post up if you want some more info.

Hey thanks Super, um...yeah im pretty much familiar of the work load of having VTEC head on LS...but I this is the thing, the amount of money im spendin, there are lots of LS's Ive found like 95-01 LS's for only like under 10K with only like 40K or so and the GSR's I find for same price have like 80K on them I dont want that many miles u know...cus i know if i put performance parts on that 80K within in few months I gotta build motor again, I wanna work with something I can build up, and I know LS has strongest block of Integs etc so thats why Idont worry to much about block going bad with simple parts, obviously if I boost Id be smart and get walls resleeved etc but whats ur guy's opinion? Oh would it be smarter to jus keep stock LS head on the block, and build that head and run turbo or would it be better to slap on a vtec head and turbo it....are there even any parts for stock LS head? like cams etc...or shud I jus get an SI? but I already had a 2000 SI so Idont know if I want one again

You can get valve springs and retainers for the B18B from crower and crane and both make a cam for turbo apps.

If you want to get the block sleeved i say go with RS Machine or Golden Eagle.

It will be fast as LS Turbo just make sure you do it right, Have enough fuel, boost controler, and a good wastegate (tial) none of that deltagate BS.

Also get an EGT Gauge and Boost Gauge.

LS Turbo's are fun cars my friend had one in his 98 integra with Turbo cams and it pulled hard.

LS block is no differnt from any other of the B series blocks besdies the B20 when it comes to block strength.

Just piece together your own turbo kit with the best parts and you usually come out cheaper then most of the prefabbed kits out on the market.

i had a 2000 si also and i dont want another.

Umm...whats better to have, stock LS motor swapped with VTEC head or B20 block swapped with VTEC head, or isnt b20 already vtec head? b.c. I found a 94 LS integ with b20 in it with less than 40K on it...if b20 already has VTEC on it, is the head good? meanin strong and powerful as b18 heads etc..? or watcha suggest etc...

No b20's are not VTEC and becareful with that swap i came across an integra once with a B20 turns out it was B20A from the old prelude and the thing had been squeezed on found the holes in the trunk for the bottle along with the racing clutch and short shifter from hell.

you cant really compare all motor to turbo me im into all motor set ups but i love a built turbo set up thats done the right way.

all motor you are going to spend more money then you would for turbo

if its an integra you might be better going turbo. a turbo B20 would run hard with cams and sleeves and built bottom end.

So its all up to personal choice, i would go all motor but you might be more into turbo.
