Hey I'm lookin to buy a Nissan 240sx (95-98) and well Im not to familiar with Nissan so I was wondering if anyone knew the model line up for the 240's you know like Civic DX, HX, LX, EX, SI....umm I was wondering what motor came in the highest model, is it the SR20DET? Or is that like a motor swap people do for nissan kinda like b16 for hondas etc....Is the SR20DET motor turbo? cus I saw someone sellin one and had turbo and was wonderin if it came like that stock, um whats the hp and torque on the motor etc...ummm 0-60 time , 1/4 time if anyone knows thanx guys....

PS: also whats the difference in each model, im guessin its jus not the motor, like does it have leather or sunroof or somethign thanx...

as far as i know... the 240's never came with turbo, the sr20det is a 2.0L engine which the 240 was a 2.4L

the sr20det comes in the silvias in japan so thats a really nice drop

That generation 240SX, S14 chassis, came with KA24DE engine. 2.4L DOHC 16V. Those years they had base model, LE and SE. I think most ppl wuold want a stick SE because that came with an LSD. LE came with sunroof, and automatic only. I think leather may have been an option for SE, but not sure. They all had 155HP, and I think 160 lb/ft. Yes, SR20DET would be the motor swap of choice... but you wont pass emissions afterward. I wouldnt get 1 with a turbo in it b/c I wouldnt know what they did with the car. 0-60 stock SE would be about mid 8 second range... that engine has no top end power, almost everything happens before 5500RPMs. Good torque range though. XS engineering offers a street legal turbo kit for that car... pumps out ~220 WHP I think. Oh, after that kit, you will want LSD haha.

No stock 240sx comes with a SR20DETT positive (US or CAN spec), Engine Code: KA24DE = 155 hp, 150~torque. I know there is a SE model not sure what other models there are.
Curious beat me to it

OK... niether of you are quite right...
First of all... you can't get an SR20DET without a turbo. The T stands for TURBO. I also don't think you can get an SR20DETT... it's kinda dumb to twin turbo an inline 4.
The SR20DET is the way to go, it drops right in, they're imported from Japan and as said... emissions are hosed. They cut them off in Japan last year for the same reason. The other option is to take the displacement advantage of the KA24, turbocharge it and go at it that way. Either way will give you crazy power.

Numbers:
SR20DET for S13: 205 HP/203 ft-lb, Garrett T25 w/ T04B Compressor
S14 : 220 HP/203ft-lb, Garrett T25 w/ T03 Compressor
S15: 250 HP/203ft-lb, Garrett T28 w/ T03 Compressor
All have 8.5:1 compression.
The S15 also gives you an extra gear.

Hey thanks boiler, you seem to know your stuff...um yeah thats what I thought, I agree with boiler than SR20DET does come with turbo, its pretty quick, one of my old buddies had one and I think ran a high 14, low 15's stock I think, not bad doe...ill keep u guys posted on some more cars im interested in, if anyone knows anyone sellin a Type R let me know, reasonable price please...one of my buds has 2001 Type R with 30K and foo wants to sell for 17500, I would not pay almost 18K for a used R....I was thinkin no one would buy it for more than 15-16 at most, umm....Im interested in mr2 twin turbo but cant seem to find a reasonable new/used one with mid miles...all the ones i find are like 100K plus im like damnnn...anyways ill keep u guys posted peace thans again guys

I'll give credit to boiler, but YOU CAN get an SR20 without turbo. It's just plain old SR20DE, you can get that from a 200SX or G20. But I dont think anyone bothered puttin in a non turbo Sr20 into the 240SX's.
