I just got a call from my ex girlfriend. She goes "my roommate has a Corvette for the weekend and we were wondering if you would like to drive it"
After saying "hell yeah," my first question was "is it stick or auto?" It was auto, but it doesn't matter. Too bad it's raining a little bit and the streets are a little wet, otherwise I wouldn't have fishtailed so much when I floored it
Anyway, I just wanted to say that this car goes from 30-90 faster than mine goes from 0-30.
It was my first time driving a rear wheel drive car, not to mention a car with over 200 hp.
I'm not sure exactly what trim it was, or even if Corvettes come with trim levels, but it was a 2002 model. I looked on it for trim badges but I didn't see any.
In addition to the normal gauges, it had like a HUD (heads up display) like they use in fighter planes where your speed, rpms, oil pressure, and a couple other things are projected up onto the windshield so you don't have to look down to see them. I was so not used to that, though, so I kept looking at the normal gauges instead.
Wow, that was the coolest thing I've done all week.

Damn, I should've taken pics. Maybe I'll get some later since she has it all weekend. I told her I want to drive it again if the roads get dry. But, I don't even have a camera now.

Sweet. If you didn't see any badges then it was prolly a C5. Which means it has an LS1 V8 that puts out about 350 hp. Did u take the traction control off? The TCS on a Vette is pretty cool. And if you don't wanna turn it off completely, hold down the TCS button for about 5 seconds and it will go into Competition Mode, so you can spin the tires, but have a bit more control around the corners. My friend used to take his boss's vette around town after he washed it. It was a C5 auto, but damn that thing was fast........until I rode in a Z06. Now that's some serious power. I'd kill myself real quick in one of those.
a while ago i pretended like i was gonna buy a 2003 viper and just went for a test drive. it was hella fast, like 0-60 in like 4 sec, and then i told the sales person it wasnt fast enough and just left. it was the funniest look on his face that he couldnt get me to buy a $70000 car. in fact, that was the only american car i drove in my life.

thats awsome dude, i have a story aroound that to share as well. I keep seeing this awsome 2002 ferrari 360 modena on this one street. Well i was at a gas station on the corner of that street one sunday, and i wasn't payin attention. And i look to my left and the ferrari was being filled up right next to me. i had some small talk with the owner of the car and he asked me if i wanted to have a ride in it. So i said of course, and OMG that was simply amazining. the thing hauls and the luxury of the 360 modena was nothin i could have ever imagined, now i'm askin mom for 200,000 to buy one..... lol
damn...HUD and everything...cars are so cool now!! I don't have an ex to get those things, and my girls car got crashed by her mother... sniff
damn!! the ferrari 360 modena is my dream car!!!! I would mass murder for one of those!!

its pretty much the only American Car I'd buy. I had a 99 for a while before I decided to go and finish college. That meant selling the Vette
Its actually a "well built" American car... something you don't find many of... my g/f has a 2002 GT ragtop. A reminder of why I'd never own a Mustang as an only car (even if it was a 390hp Cobra) -- rattle city and electrical quirks.
Oh well, a C5 will be back in my garage as a first major purchase after college. Cars like the 350Z are nice, but there is something about the Vette...

My boss had a 'Vette on loan for the weekend last summer and he asked me to get it washed. It was great, unfortunately it was an auto but still alot of fun. I loved the HUD. I need to get one of those. The 'Vette is definitely one of teh few American cars I'd seriously consider.
