Has anyone seen Mitsubishi's "answer" to the Civic Si?

This fall Mitsu is going to produce a sportier Lancer called the Lancer Ralliart. It has a 2.4L with about 160hp, 16" wheels, a stiffer suspension than the OZ Rally Edition, and the Evo-inspired nose to be added to all '04 Lancers. Its competition is the Civic Si, Focus SVT, and Sentra SE-R. The asking price for this car will be under $18,000 (according to the May issue of Motor Trend magazine).
I have to admit that the Ralliart doesn't look too bad. I like it alot more than the OZ Rally edition. Though its far from being an Evo it still has a decent engine, looks sporty, and costs alot less.

heh. anything will eat the Si.

the Si is the worse under 20K "sports" compact... IMO.

sounds like NA to me. 2.4L 160 hp.

lol. if it looks like an evo but doesn't have the 281 or whatever hp engine and 4 wheel drive..

but cost under 18,000 grand... I'll take it over my civic.

Dipping onto its corporate heritage and parts bin, Mitsubishi is using its inhouse performance arm to push the Lancer into sporty territory. I thought the same thing about the Ralliart resembling the Pontiac Sunfire in the front. It looks like Mitsu hired Pontiac/GM to provide the headlights, grille, bumper, and hood.

I'm sure that the Ralliart will sell better than the Si. I have seen more Lancer OZ Rally editions on the road than Si's, which will be the same case with the Ralliart. It's a better deal especially with the current deals that Mitsubishi dealers have.

That Lancer looks like crap its horrible i wouldnt buy it no matter how fast it is compared to the SI at least the SI starts looking bearable after a kit and a drop this thing looks HORRIBLE

I agree with the people above that it does looks like the new sunfires.
but the car over all I think is much nicer.
The sunfire still uses the old 1995 design for the body if I'm not mistaken. The only thing that changed was the front and back of the car. I'm waithing to see what the 2005 model will look for both the sunfire/Cavalier. Althought there are rummors that the Cavalier name will be dropped.

I can just imagine how much Hp that AWD would suck up.

But hell no I would never buy one of those things. I think it looks pretty ugly.

i wouldnt midn buying that over the civic. i know the EVO8 is the one to get but the Ralliart edition sounds good enough already (at least better than my 01 civic sedan now)

Just to let you guys kno that the Civic Type R is going to be coming to the US soon. It has the same body as the Si but wit a 200 HP engine for around the same price. So if you talking bout how a lot of cars are better than the Si just wait for the Type R to come out and then compare the specs. That from what i heard bout Honda tryin to make there Si better cause its not selling as much as the 99-00 ones.
