super street (and other mags)
super street (and other mags)
hey, i got a gift certificate for amazon and i was gonna use it to subscribe to an import mag or something. i dunno, i guess SCC is the most popular, but i wanted to try something else (and get my friend to get SCC; we'd trade after we're done). so i was just clicking around and i found "Super Street." it looks like good reading (i think?
). not too technical, but i've looked at SCC and the numbers aren't THAT important to me. so, what ya think? i mean, if super street doesn't tickle your fancy, please recommend another good import/whatever magazine.
thanks

Turbo mag is pretty good. They always focus on 1 type of car per issue, which i find cool. Gives u different perspectives as to how cars can be tuned. And ya Honda Tuner is a good choice as mentioned above.
Tell me what you don't like about yourself....

SCC all the way! I feel no other mag comes up with so much technical nonsense as SCC. But it depends on what ya like... Super Street does tend to deal with a lot more JDM than SCC. Get Import Tuner if you like show cars and show girls.
HCI is expensive as hell. i only have $25 to spend AT amazon. it kinda sucks, cuz they don't have most of the magazines you guys suggested. i'm just gonna go with super street, cuz i already have access to SCC. thanks for the suggestions; eventually i'll get to those other mags...btw, i like super street cuz it's all written for dumbasses/newbies (me!), so even if they DO mention something that's remotely technical, they explain it.

SCC is usually pretty good. They do some interesting stuff. Honda Tuning is ok too... but for the size, just go and read it in the store. I got a free issue of DRAG magazine with one of my orders once. It had some good technical articles, but worthless unless you are destined to make your car an 8 second dragster.

More than likely for general reading and application honda tuning is very good, turbo performance magazine is very good as well, but it will have more to do with your personal application. Import Tuner is pretty good, although IMO super street although funny, really has little else to offer about the cars, super street generally only offers commentary and background on the car and it's owner/builder.
On a monthly basis, and should get subsciptions..
Anyone who has seen my collection can confirm... monthly I buy a copy of almost every known tuner mag or at least read or browse them (barnes and noble right next to my job
and plenty of gas stations on saturday nights), turbo, import tuner, honda tuning, SCC, super street, street racer is mediocre (i dont get it much), drag is relativly good, HCI, and import racer.. Each mag is relative to application, most are at least good just to read, for all intensive purposes any is fine, but I don't feel like super street helps you understand how to build or at least buy your way to a faster car. [ If you want a full personal analysis let me know, trying to keep this somewhat short at least]

And how could I forget, "The Wong Way", lol, goofy guy man..

I get all three Super Street, Honda Tuning, and Import Tuner
I know I'm a loser
CG, thanks for the advice...by far the most comprehensive reply so far. anyway, i guess it really won't matter which one i get if i end up checking out barnes and noble. that's a pretty cool idea, something to do on the weekend
