Consumer Reports has put the 7th Gen with the top performers of the reliability list for 2000 autos. See the attached link:

These cars are all from 2000. Didn't the 7th generation start out in 2001. And the reference to the 3-Year-Olds is just referring to the age of the car. I wonder what their review of the 2003's is gonna be...

Yep, I think they would be talking about the 2000 year model, the 6th gen civic, which after 4 years in the market was probably the best built civic in a long time.

But I do give credit to the 7th gen too. except for rattles, I haven´t had a single engine/electrical or cooling problem.

eh, we all know the 99-00 6th gens (especially the SI) are fine automobiles. you don't need to rub it in :P

The 6thgens were very nice along with the civics before them. Reliability has been top-notch for a decade. '01 civics did have some problems and CR rated them as average for the year. However, the rating has gone back up and everything appears to be back in the honda realm.

Outside of the rattles, I don't think there have been any significant problems in the 7thgeneration. Sometimes, situations are presented that lead people to believe otherwise. All in all, the civic is still selling more than any other compact to my knowledge and remain very strong in the reliability department.
