I know most of you own civics but...
I am gettingf tired of worrying about rattles and fixing my car. 9,000 miles on my 02 EX 5-speed. I don't beat on my car to damage anything. Now my rear struts are blown and they wont give me a date when they can fix my car. So I'm stuck. The struts are on backorder and the only reason I bought a new car was to not have to worry about fixing things. I understand somepeople have a lot of luck with their 7thgen, but mine is cursed. I am looking at a 98-99 Eclipse GSX. Any suggestions of how I should sell my car? Trade it and buy a GSX from the dealer? Sell it privately and buy privately? Sell it stock and take my stuff off or leave it all on and sell it with the stock stuff? Thanks for the input, BTW this is all prending on whether my dad will let me do it or not.

You'll get more money for the trade-in if you sell it back stock to the dealer. Maybe check with carmax and see how much they will give you for it. Also maybe since you are thinking about it put a FOR-SALE sign in the windows of your vic and see if you get any bites on it, that way if the person wants you can sell it to them with or w/o the performance and add-on parts to it already.
Check out the vehicle issues/problems section in the forum. There is a thread about this exact thing. Mine were on backored for almost 2 weeks, they are getting replaced on Monday. And yes it does suck
not all cars come off the line perfectly. It might also be driving/using your car. They all wear out differently. Even just tiny potholes can add up to major damage. As long as you're not paying too much for those repairs (or if you have a warranty), then let what happens happen. But if you really want to dump your car for a used car, then go for it. Personnaly, I like firsts, not sloppy seconds.

4g63 turbo gsx is a great car if it is well kept, but ever since my cousin got his he's had headache upon headache upon headache. I also have 2 other friends that have dsm (eagle talon tsi and a 1st gen gsx) and all three of them never seem to stop complaining about fuel pumps, oil pans coming loose and alternator belts snapping. I actually broke down my cousins GSX twice coming in from Manhattan in the middle of the coldest night of the year. He has a moderately tuned GSX w/ a swapped in lower mileage block from a later model front mt spearco, boost controller below 15 psi (daily driven), type s blowoff, trust exhaust and an upgraded turbo. All the money he spent getting the car and maintaining it could have gotten him in the 13's easy, but unfortunately he's never had a restless day to take it to the track for the slips since its broken down once a week. Point being, if you don't have the mechanical know how do yourself a favor and buy a more user friendly car. Just my suggestion, but then again its your money.

Or your friend actually knows how to take care of the GSX. I went to a DSM website, they only talk about some boost creep and knock, they even don't have a forum based only vehicle issues/problems. I guess they arent that unreliable after all. BTW, my friend owns a 97 GSX, and the only problem was a radiator hose. Nothing since. And he has AWD TURBO. If I found a sweet 99 GSX with low miles I would trade in my civic so quick. Actually Ill try to have both cars . The civic would be my commuting car while the GSX will be the car that I race in. That sounds good now if only I can make that happen.

mitsubishi makes some good cars..... my dad had a 95 3000gt twin turbo
and it never had any problems.... he said I would get it then he sold sold
it

That car was fast like whoa..... and had some pretty good
handling too..... just not right to promise someone that kinda car and rip
it away from them.

I know two people that have GSX eclipses and they have not had a single problem with them. I'm not saying mistu is better than honda or vice-versa, I'm saying MY honda has been worse that my old eclipse. I figure if I can win with the honda might as well go back to mitsu and have a much better performing car. I'll still like the 7thgen, I have a respect for its "intelligence" in engineering, just no on the performance side. Whatever happens, I'll still be on this site.
