engine swap on a nova??
my friend has a 1986 chevy nova and the engine is startin to go. he wants to put in a more powerful engine but we're not sure what could be put in it. does anyeone know what kind of engines could be swapped into it? thanks in advance
You can drop in just about whatever he wants with the right motor mounts. A smallblock or a big block will fit. I suggest a 350 if he wants nice power
cheap, easy horsepower.
If he ends up going with a big block get a 453.

an 86 nova? Isn't that like a Crapalier before Crapaliers? The little tiny econobox thing right? I doubt you can swap much into that thing. Maybe just swap the whole car.

SWAP IN THE BEAST!!!!!
i say custom make some motor mounts for the best honda engine that will fit in that car. plus reap the benefits of a drastically reduced curb weight...

hey, they did used to make 2 cycle car engines, you know... and this would be an improvement over the previous engine.

There's a 1986 Chevy Nova (with some goofball who must own it). Do you honestly think you can drop a V8 in there??? Come on. It's front wheel drive econobox. Not the Nova that you're all thinking of. It probably has 85 HP if you're lucky. I would stick to smaller engines if you're gonna swap. Maybe a Quad 4 something like that, but I don't think you're gonna get big power out of that.

IMO this car is NOT worth an engine swap! Tell your friend to get his 300$ for it!

Friends don't help friends waste money. If the motor is getting tired park it or sell it IMO. You can get a good old beater car for about 500- 600 bux.

the 80s novas were PILES. Instead of putting an engine in the car, id put the car in a junk yard.

My first car was an 88 nova. Everyone laughed at me till I had a killer system in it. but I eventually traded it for my civ. Honda gave me a whopping $800 for it.
