My friend bought an 03 Eclipse back in October. It's the lowest one (RS I think?). She's a chick and she drives stick. Sweet. Ok, she wants to trade it in for the next model up because that one has power locks, doors, windows, a sunroof, and like an extra roll bar or something in the back. (No more hp though, that's the third model up). Anyway, she stands to lose about $5,000 in the trade-in... is there a way she could get these parts aftermarket and save money?

Power windows
Power locks
Power mirrors

Those are the three she cares about most. I mean, is it possible to, say, rewire a car that doesn't have power mirrors so that power mirrors would work?

If anyone has any links or anything where I could find prices on some of these parts I would appreciate it.

Tell her to get a 2g Eclipse GSX AWD. She wont regret it Unless she gets problems with crankwalk Im looking to buy a 1g GSX for a project car. The respond to mods really well

1g is the first generation (91 to 94, I think)
2g is the 2nd generation (95 to 99)
The motors from before 94 are the ones to get your hands on. There's a bunch of things that make them better and stronger.

You can get power windows,mirrors, and locks and sunroof installed for WELL under 5000.

Yeah you should be able to find that stuff no problem. Just try a local scrap yard and snag the parts you need,.. maybe you can get lucky and find one the same color and just get both doors off it Later

1G is 89-94
2G is 95-99 (95-96 were round, 97-99 had darker headlights, different rear lights and altered skirts) (talons were discontinued in 97)
3g is 00-03

BTW 1G you can get a plymouth laser RS (FWD), talon tsi-tsi awd or eclipse gsx (AWD) -gs-t (FWD)
2G Eclipse or Talon. Same for models
2G 97+ Eclipse only

we got an old eclipse at work 5 speed turbo(i think, it says GS but there is a boost gauge so ???) we took it in for 300 bucks i might buy it

the mitsu dealer may be able to do all that, otherwise look for the mirrors at the junkyard, windows and locks can be done using aftermarket kits. Any alarm installer or other similar place should be able to do the installs.

heck, the power windows, door locks you should be able to get from even best buy or circuit city. power mirrors and sunroof you should be able to look up a company in the phone book that does sunroofs and be able to get both from the same place.

Th RS is pretty shitty (I assume you mean a peice of ****) .....Like buying an RSX and getting the base model .......The GT is much nicer (IMO) and has a lot more options ...... But if she wants a car she can beef up for power, listen to these guys and go with the previous years......The GT Premium has some nice options though:
power windows, locks, remote lock release, factory alarm, power sunroof, 6 disc changer, leather, back wiper, fog lights, controls on the wheel for your stereo, 17 inch rims...not much but it helps
