Is there some kind of tracking device we can put in our civic? I know that my dad has Onstar on his 01 GMC Sierra and was wonder if we can get something similar to that? I'm more worried about getting my car stolen then getting direction to someplace. Eventhou Onstar does just about everything...

I'm sure Onstar does just a bit more than Lojack.... Onstar will track your vehical. unlock your car within 10 sec of calling them send police and ambulance if the airbags goes off.. There's 3 button on the rearview mirror of my dad's truck. one for for a live operator to get dircection (there's a speaker phone built in), another for emergency and one for something else I forgot...

They only have it for certain GM cars/trucks... I tried to get it for my old 1999 Pontiac Grand AM and they said they couldn't do it since it's only a few selected GM cars/trucks.

Well if you are just looking for a tracking device, then lojack otherwise I would say OnStar but Im not sure how that works

I do have lojack....although it cost like 600$ to get it installed...its worth it. I had my car stolen once...and it was retrieved within 20 mins.

i havent heard of any of these other companies except on-star. we work with on-star all the time at my dept. but i havent dealt with these others.

There is a thing we have on our cars at work called Geo Tracer, or Geo Tracker, u can actually track the car yourself, its pretty cool

If you are looking for a tracking device only, go with lojack. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

the geo tracer is a GPS tracking device, you go online and enter the code of the tracer and it will tell you exactly where your car is within 5 feet, um if u have kids and you let them use your car you can track how fast they were driving to see if they were speeding, its really cool

EDIT: about lojack, lojack is using old technology by tracking cars by radio waves, the geo tracer tracks using Satelites, what would you want to relay on, geo tracker can be used WORLD WIDE lo jack im not sure, but either just california or united states

LoJack is great i have heard nothing but good things about them but its a little pricey and some insurance companies will lower the insurance if you have it

How owuld you say onstar is injen? I mean are they reliable/helpful to the cops?
