Modding a civic
My friend just got a 98 automatic Civic and was wondering if it's worth it to add mods to the car or not. And if so how much power would he be able to gain with say...regular bolt ons. Thanks

what trim? engine? but generally speaking.... HELL YEA!
that gen civic has better response to mods than the 7th gen.
i would estimate 10-20 more HP with I/H/E combo.... hopefully

I wouldn't mod the d16, I would wait, drop in a H22 and be faster.
A) there is no such thing as an auto B16A
B) If you swap the engine tyou also swap the tranny with it.
unless your friend wasnts to do a full engine/tranny swap, or just a auto to manual conversion w/ forced induction or nitrous, its not worth doing anything to it but putting in a nice sound system.

In my opinion id mod the d16 engine. I use to see sohc engines equipped with d16 powerplant beat bigger engines like the b16. Every engine sohc or dohc could be well tuned and be fast as long as you have $$$.

I don't think he's planning on doing an engine swap or anything like that. He's not really into cars as much as most of everybody here. But I can tell he does want to do some little stuff because he asks me almost everyday what he can do and if I would help it or not and if it would be worth it go ahead and mod the car .
When I find out more specs of the car (engine, model, etc) I'll let you guys know. Thanks for the feed back

I think modding the car is fine. My younger brother has a '97 LX, he has custom exhaust and AEM CAI, and it can outrun me already, and I have the same setup...

Yeah the only car I would seriously really mod up would be a 99 SI like my buddies. I am just making my car look good it will never be fast so I am waiting till I get more money to get my project car, or a newer faster car.

i have a 97 ex...with bolt on's yah i feel more power and quicker response...
but for the same amount of money that is going to cost you (intake, header, high flow cat, exhaust, cam shaft, cam gears, and pulleys)...could do a swap and be much happier.
