If he was asking what was better, he should of worded his topic better- "What will get me more power, swap or turbo" etc...

what to do is just pissing in a bucket, its all opinion, and it comes down to what HES going to spend the money on. So before you decide to flame, know what your talking about.

well depends how much power you want, and how much r' u willing to spend, right now a swap is double the price of a turbo setup......

most people I know swap and put a turbo on because they are racing the car. I thought about doing that too but it didn't seem worth it unless I could go all out on the new engine. It was more then I was looking for so i guess what I'm saying is that it depends on what you want from your car. If you don't want to turn it into a race car I would just go with a turbo.

SWAP IT! no point on spending just about the same amount of cash on a useless engine...its like turbocharging my lawnmower, POINTLESS. Look at RiceBurnerEX. He's getting 197hp to the wheels at 8lbs of boost, the K20 isnt too far behind it BONE STOCK. IMO, get the K20 if anything, or you can always just do what you want! peace

Swap is gonna cost more it seems like - spending 6k just for an engine! RiceBurnerEX said he spent around 6600 for his whole setup, but thats just one case. It sounds pretty complete though. I would like a K20 though. Ahh, maybe when the price comes down!

look to spend about 5-6k on a turbo kit if you do it right

building the motor, sleeving low comp pistons, rods, etc
then building a turbo kit from scratch, custom parts for a little more expensive.

There is one thing you forgot to mention. RiceBurnerEX's 197hp is all at the wheels. So it would definetly have the RSX type-S.

IMO, get the k swap. You'll be plenty fast with it, and should you want to be faster down the line, you could always turbo it.

swap makes the most sense, i mean with a turbo once you turbo it what else can you do? with a k20 swap, if just the motor aint enough for you can do a turbo or a supercharger on that. At least thats the way i came to my decision.

actually, autos are better for turbos..

but IMO, i'd go with the swap if you have the money. you get to start fresh with 1. better engine 2. more response 3. its a k20.. and then in the future, you can turbo it..

i would love to do the swap... problem is.. if i wanted to turbo it down the line, it wouldn't fit.... now if i got a turbo kit, and rebuilt and tuned the engine, it would easily take some of the fastest imports out there... turbo it just makes sense..

ummm...you prolly have never built a turbo car.....turning up the boost is the easiest way to make more power granted you add the proper fuel to it.

what i was trying to say is if you turbo a d17 and you plan to street the thing, if work the crap out of the motor internal wise you'll probably only get to about 15lbs of boost. then the thing will just become unstreetable. with a k20 you can turbo it at like 8lbs of boost and have about as much or more gains. swap just makes the most sense.

I'm a boost man. Blow-off valve!!!

Rebuild the internals, *** boost and some go fast mods, drop in an intercooler, maybe even no2 if you're built well, a blow off is just such a great and intimidating sound.

My turbo will be done in the spring (late fall, early may). My buddy gave me a t25 turbo from his 25k mile eclipse. after about 2-3k i'll be boosted with about 4-5 psi. then i'll save over the summer and do the intercooler and internals.
