ok so this saab 93 rolls up to the light where we are sitting and starts to rev his engine.....

hes on my left so i catch the momo rims hes got... now i have seen this car before at davannis and he doesnt look like hes got much... so im game...

the light turns green i get a perfect launch... he takes a slow launch and stays back for like 5 seconds and then guns it... and as hes flyin by i look at my speedometer and im going like 80.... mind you this is a little longer than a mile straight... and im pretty sure he was goin like 120 cause he was movin....

im pretty sure that it was turbo...

those saab 93's are damn fast

Heheheh, guess what? Saab 9-3's only come in turbo and high output turbo...aside from the Viggen, but that's a totally different beast. People always underestimate a Saab, but they're actually quite fast.

For the 9-3's, you're looking at 185 to 205 hp, or if you see the little triangle near the sidemarker, that would be the Viggen topping out the 9-3 line at 230hp and 258 ft-lbs of torque...Even the older 900's are quick. Watch out for any really old Saab that looks like it's got a subtle bodykit. That would be an 900 SPG, and they're pretty fast too.

Oh, and by the way, first gear in a Saab is slow...like backwards slow. But second gear is where all the fun starts. Saab believes that the most amount of fun is not right off the blocks, but somewhere after you start rolling, so the car is not set up to blow away anyone from the line. The Viggen in second takes off like a bat out of hell, and just doesn't stop all the way through the rest of the gears. Very cool car to drive...

I thought he meant a 1993 SAAB, in which case, there are non-turbo models.

but then after I thought about it for awhile, I was wondering how come he can identify the year, but not the model....

anyway, yes yes those saabs are nice cars. dont see too many of them where I'm at.

Seeing as SAAB "invented" the consumer-automobile application of the turbocharger, they have had a lot of R&D time to get it right... SAABs, while ugly (they are getting better recently, old saabs were BUTT) are no joke.

Actually if he HAD "burned" a saab it would have been something to brag about. that being said, the 9-3 isnt that fast. the new ones only mannage mid-low 15s in the 1/4 mile.
