To SC or not to SC
I have the opportunity of purchasing a Vortech Supercharger for a mere $3800. It's a brand new polished unit. I'm getting the discount on a group buy.
I am debating whether or not I should do this, as I obviously don't have that kinda cash lying around. It would make things pretty tight for a while, and further increase my debt. But having that on my car raises its value, especially its resale when I decide to sell it. So it could actually turn into a decent investment.
Anyways, the kit comes with everything. SC, intercooler, ignition upgrades, fuel system upgrades, ECU to control air/fuel mixture, etc, etc. This is also the newest kit, so it has the previous bugs worked out. There are several S2k's with this kit running high 12's at 110+ mph. I love the power my car makes now, I couldn't even imagine what it would be like with this SC.
What do you guys think? Any negatives you can think of? Ideas?

FlyRiceRacer02 - Should have known we would hear from you first .........
I would say go for it, even though it would be a little tight for awhile, you could go race and make up the cash, he he, just kidding man.
But that is one hell of a deal though, everything is included.
Let us Know what you do man......

one word .....or two....credit card...put $3800 on a credit card and pay it off over time ......but i guess it depends on how much interest you have on you card ....cause mine 18% and I pay it off monthly .....i'd get killed if I put $3800 on ....do it, your only young once ......
a little parasitic but i think it sounds like a really great deal you would most likely never find again. if u think you'd be able to manage, i would do it because it sounds like you're a speed demon in a fast car and high 12's would take out A LOT OF THE COMPETITION.

contrary to me being a speed demon in a slow car

when I first saw the title, I was about to flame away
The vortech SC ownz IMO but....
Not being in debt > Having an S2000 w/o SC > Having an S2000 w/ SC
EDIT: But then again if it does raise the value of your car signifcantly.....

I say don't do it. It's not worth it, I've heard of people breaking axles on their first drive with the Vortech. Now, would you have that kind of money to keep your car running if something like that were to happen?

Hint around....maybe someone will buy it for you for Christmas.
lol
But seriously, not only does it add to the value, but it adds to the car. If you do this, not only will you have an S2000, you'll have a supercharged S2000!!! You're gonna love that extra power. The only bad thing is that boosting is addictive. After a while you're gonna want to boost more and then you'll have to upgrade your internals a bit. But as long as you think you can control the addiction and the debt I'd say go for it. NOW!!!!

lol

well if i were him and i was not in debt, i would buy it... but you also have to consider that when people look for a tight car they want it Stock because, they know if you have moded it in anyway you know they ran it into the ground. they wouldn't want a car that has been beaten to death... just my opinon...

If you're in debt don't do it. It's simple. Your car is fast enough as is, and if you get it later, it makes no difference except for the fact that you are no longer in debt.
And remember what blown said, if you do anything that f**ks up your car, and you're already in debt - that's a double whammy right there. No harm in waiting for a little more cash, the SC will still be there, and i'm sure you'll still be able to get the same price.

More power means, shorter clutch life and increased tire wear. So, if you pricing out the S/C, also keep in mind that you'll need a new clutch and probably better tires which make things costly. I say wait and do it right. No need to park your S2000 b/c you can't afford to fix it. What use is it then if it's parked?
I say don't do it also. Its going to cost you more even if you install it yourself. If the car start having problems it going to suck cause your already making payment on it, the warrenty if you have one is also shot.
I did somthing like this to my lude. Now it just sitting my driveway wait for me to save enough money to fix it.
I say save your money so you can do everything right and once.

I say don't do it either. It is no good
to be in debt. Don't make it worst by getting the SC. Wait a while! Save some money then get it instead. The SC won't run away and it will be there once you have enough money.
I sure wish my car was newer

I say you shouldn't do it. You already have two new cars, and debt. Looks at the costs vs the benefits. Having a fast car is not as important as having good credit and low debt. Having low debt will help you buy a faster car later. If the cutting down on money you're talking about means you'll have too buy off-brand cereal for a year, then maybe go for it. But if you're at or over five grand in debt, I wouldn't even consider it.
