Its the laws of physics at work on that one. In lots of car crashes the trunk will pop open. It's only being held shut by that single latch. This makes it the weakest point. And when energy is put into an object the weakest link is gonna give first. This is almost always the trunk in car crashes.

only the passenger side of the back seat opened, so just make sure the people you like that ride in your car sit behind you or in the passanger seat
