Went to the track today... *time slips.*
I have 3 timeslips to post and two are from today. I went to Infineon Raceway (or better known as Sears Point) on the last night of Wednesday night drags which was on the 13th of November. Because it was the last night for Wednesday drags, it was crowded and I only got 1 run. This was my first time being or racing on a drag strip and the winner of the race is the car that gets closest to their dial time, not the car that passes the finish line first.
From some people's perspective, the track was quite slippery compared to the one in Sacramento - and from another person's perspective, it was because the track is still new.
My first and only race on that Wednesday had me up against an NBP GS-R coupe. I did nothing to my car except remove the spare tire.
Me (left lane):
DIAL: 16.10
R/T: 1.088
60ft: 2.814
330ft: 7.307
1/8: 11.023
MPH: 64.72
1000: 14.236
1/4: 16.945
MPH: 83.09
I was pretty disappointed at my time but it was my first time on the track.
GS-R (right lane):
DIAL: 15.10
R/T: .568
60ft: 2.423
330ft: 6.526
1/8: 9.887
MPH: 72.63
1000: 12.801
1/4: 15.262
MPH: 92.49
Today I had to wake up at 6 in the morning to be at the track as races started at 8. Didn't bother to remove the spare tire this time. Today I did have better results. My times seemed to have improved.
I went against an older car. Couldn't tell you what kind of car it was except it looked domestic. This time, the winner passes the finish line first. I had no expectations of "winning" as most of the domestics were quite fast. I got to see a good # of SVT Cobra Mustangs hit low to mid 12s.
Here are the times to my first race today.
Me (left lane):
R/T: .960
60ft: 2.577
330ft: 7.032
1/8: 10.726
MPH: 65.44
1000: 13.915
1/4: 16.592
MPH: 83.79
Not bad... even my R/T improved.
My opponent (right lane):
R/T: .841
60ft: 2.584
330ft: 6.715
1/8: 10.079
MPH: 74.53
1000: 12.967
1/4: 15.350
MPH: 94.98
My second and last race had me against a base model yellow Audi A4 which went better than I thought. He was in the left lane this time.
Audi A4:
R/T: .659
60ft: 2.620
330ft: 7.057
1/8: 11.008
MPH: 65.73
1000: 14.102
1/4: 16.677
MPH: 88.80
Me:
R/T: .767
60ft: 2.618
330ft: 7.046
1/8: 10.698
MPH: 66.36
1000: 13.850
1/4: 16.509
MPH: 85.72
This was an odd race. I was shocked that I beat this car, let alone we were neck and neck. In 3rd gear, my car didn't seem to pull harder (as it doesn't "pull" at all, heh) but I noticed his car and it looked like he was slowing down for some reason, and I could only assume that he might've mis-shifted but I didn't hear a mis-shift. Maybe he just didn't throw the shifter into the gear. By the time I switch to 4th gear, here he comes pulling on me about to pass me but doesn't pass me before the finish line thus he passes the finish line at a higher speed. That doesn't surprise me... his car has more HP (170@5,900 RPMs) and has torque (166@1950 RPMs) and yet weighs almost exactly 700lbs more than my car.
I could've raced again but I chose to leave - I'm tired, and I had fun. The problem was the wait. It took way too long to wait for the imports to race and watching the cars race got boring. I think the most interesting thing I saw was a turboed Integra Type R that ran a 12.3. I saw it on that Wednesday night but today I got to see it in action and it accelerated fairly well for a FWD car though it still couldn't compare to most of it's competition. It lost against an older model domestic but I was still impressed. It's not like you see 12 second Type Rs every day. I could just feel the evil eminating from that car.
That was my day.
EDIT: Oh, and all I have is a CAI and throttle cable tweaked under the hood.

very fast for a turbo type-r, do u know how much psi he was running and what internals he changed?
speaking of type r's, two thursday's ago at the drag strip we met this one guy who had a yellow type-r that was supercharged. i think he said 8-9 psi and was putting 240 hp down to the ground. we were like HOLY ****! but he said with his street tires he had no traction so my friend raced him anyways just to see what happened. we told him the car had 185@ the wheels so from his face u could tell he was pretty confident even with his no traction street tires.
anyhoo, my friend beat him by a tenth, 14.2 to 14.3 and this guy had the biggest oh **** face ever. u could tell his tires were screaming for traction as when he took off from the christmas tree he launched way too high and stayed there for a few tenths too long as my friend proceeded to just smoothly go w/ minimal wheelspin (new motor mounts helped too). now when that guy gets drag radials or slicks it would be all over for my friend but it'd be very interesting to see the e.t. of that supercharged type-r.....

I forgot to mention a few things:
In my first race against the GS-R, I got too anxious and spun my tires going into 2nd gear.
In my second race against the domestic, I hit the rev limiter redlining 2nd gear.
3rd race was all good.

Eh, it's all good. It's always fun to hit the track and see what your car is capable of doing.
That A4 didn't perform like I thought it would. Was it a 1.8T?
