I've always wanted to say that.
I was on my way home for lunch today in my civic when a GTS dodging through traffic caught my attention in my rearview. He passed and I fell in behind him in the left lane to simply follow the flow. (as did another car behind me)
After following him for about a minute, he moved into the middle lane and proceeded to slow down. I had to get off an upcoming exit, so I started to pass him. He downshifted and took off, obviously leaving me well behind. He jetted off the same exit I was taking, and I ended up behind him at the intersection.
Again, he moves over, lets me pass him and then gets on my butt, flashing his lights. WTF? Ok. I have to get gas, so I pull into a station that is 2 minutes from my house. He follows in, and kinda sits by the entrance for a second. I'm pumping gas and he walks over with his friend.
(i don't remember the conversation word for word, so I'll fake it best I can)
Him: Whatcha got in there?
Me: Uh. a lowly civic DX. why?
him: I just wondered why you tried racin me?
Me: What? I didn't try racing you. I followed you through traffic and then had to get off the exit, and you just kinda took off. I think you were racin yourself.
Him: Well I eat civics for breakfast all the time.
Me: Well I really like celicas, but of course you're going to beat a civic. Do you always pick fights with slower cars?
Him: Naw, they just all ricers. ain't met a fast one ever.
Me: (I can bring up a few, but whatever) Right, well since you wanna pick on 4 banger hondas, how about I go get my other car and you can pick on that one.
Him: Oh what's that?
Me: My other car is an S2000.
Him: Those are slower too. Saw one at GLD that couldn't break 14's. Besides, you can't race with mommy and daddy's car.
Me: I suppose you and your exhaust and intake GTS always break 14's. And the S2k happens to be mine.
Him: Well you wanna put a few on it?
Me: Gladly. 20 bucks is my going rate. (i'm lying, i don't have a going rate, and RARELY race for money)
Him: Fine, but my buddy's gonna hold it.
His friend: duh..... : Drool : (dude hasn't said a word, except stand there and look homey g funk)
So I tell him I'll be back in 5 minutes. And if he wants to chicken out, feel free to take off.
I come back with the S2k. (insurance goes to end of month, though I really don't drive it) The look on his face was classic. I don't think he really expected me to show up with an S2k. He leaves his friend, and we head out on mequon to do a quick run on the straight stretch before the freeway.
I buried him. Twice. Once there and back. The 2nd time he jumped ahead cuz I wasn't expecting to race again, but I passed him and beat him again. Our 3rd gear pulls damn strong. Though I still say a GTS puts up a better fight in 3rd gear than a WRX.
He didn't say much after, but I had to pop my hood to prove I didn't have NAWS. Though I doubt he'd know what to look for anyways.
Quickest 20 bucks I ever made.
Okay, now I have to wipe this s h * t grin off my face so I can get back to work.

well the guy does have a good car, and he does have a chance in winning, but why the f*** does he have to bad mouth? u wanna race, there is no problem in doing so with a good spirit, thats what id ont like about people with fast cars, they r soo full of them selves, but good race man, u should have a bumper sticler with " my other car is an s2000" [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG]

On the first one, I'm the car on the left. That's the highest I've ever trapped.
On the 2nd one, I'm the car on the right. That's my best ET this year of the 2 times I've gone. (i normally go several times a year)
Both races were against a stock 2001 stang GT 5-speed.
