Is it possible to have a 2.2 liter SOHC engine, im writing a report and need a quick anwer,

Yes. You can increase either the bore or the stroke of any engine to get one with a larger displacement.

EDIT: 4got about TL Type S etc.

Do you mean boring out a motor to increase displancement? or the existance of 2.2L+ SOHC motors?

Cams don't make a difference. The Viper is an 8L... it only has ONE cam. It has pushrods. You can have as big a single cam as you want. The Accord 3L is a SOHC. Mecedes Benz's 5L V8 is SOHC. Displacement has no bearing on how many cams you need. As long as something is opening and closing the valves.

Thanks you all answered my quesiton, i was more so asking if a car company, could produce a SOHC 2.2 engine so that it would be more fuel efficient, particularly domestic. my example was a sunfire, and i am just thinking of ways they can make their sunfire more fuel effiecient with a similar liter engine. I think I'm on the right track.

i'd really like to see a stroker kit made for the D17 and i'd also like to see a cam gear. hmm. toda racing, crower, spoon, greddy, HKS, which one is the most likley to make one. i'll send them an e-mail.
