May soon be a 7th gen owner....
I need to find a better winter car than what I have. I currently have a 93 civic LX with high miles, and am looking at getting a new 7th gen civic.
Here's my question.
Do you think I should get a 2003 Civic or a 2002 Civic? The dealers have both, so I'm wondering what would be a good price for a cheaper one. (I think DX is the base model??) Which do you think I should get, and what do you think would be a decent price for one?

i bought my 2002 ex coupe for well under 20, and it comes with everything, power everything, moonroof, cd player and the vtec.
had extras put on for a little more money and problly not worth it but the extras were all a b-day gift:
spoiler, foglights, floor mats, 2000 Si wheels
not a bad price for a great little car. but if you dont care about all that stuff, the lx and dx, from what i hear, are cheaper and just as dependable.

I was in the same situation as you. I decided since Im going to keep my 7th gen for along time I might as well buy the '02 EX and save me a $1000 bucks. The '03 comes with different gauges(they look just like my wife's '02 Accord) and alloy wheels(EX). My dealer was blowing them out for $14,495. I got mine out the door with taxes and license for $15,888 at 4.9% for 60 months.

I'd get a 2002 Ex, then you would have ABS and such since it will be a winter car. Since it sure doesn't seem like you're hurting for money, I doubt the alloy rims on the 2003 should make that big of a difference. Thats just what I would do, assuming I wasn't so broke.
well its the same car, 2003 has a diffrent dash, and i heard the seats are more comfy on the 2003, but u can probebly get a 2002 for 1000 cheaper or more, which i personally think is a better deal. why pay 100 extar on basically the same car, but with a diffrent 4th digit on the year of make

You should be able to get a good deal on the '02 and with good reason. You're buying an about to be 1 yr old car. So, I wouldn't pay more for it than what a 1 yr civic is currently going for on the market. Well, maybe just a tad more.
BTW, I got my '02 ex sedan 5spd for $15,998 out the door back in Febuary. That included mats and mudguards as well.

The price of the DX after I would add AC would've been the same price.......so I just went EX.......

Thanks for the input so far.
No, I don't need AC. ABS would be nice, but it's not necessary.
If I'm driving a car at a time when I'd need to use the A/C, then I will be in the S2000 with the top down.
So far it looks like I might get a 2003 DX sedan. Stick shift, no options. Right now, with no money down, the lease is looking to be in the $160 area.
