My civic is so wierd. I have driven for 50 miles after my gas light has come on and when I filled up the car. It only to 10.5 gallons. I don't know how much farther I could drive. Don't the civics have a 13 gallon tank?
Well, the gauges are screwed up, but I have gone way too far with my car... I have learned the limits... I have run out several times, and that's not good, but the light comes on prematurely most of the time, so i give another 75 miles after that...

I have run out several times, although not in traffic, i just have been stuck in a parking spot or my driveway... i usually go 300-330 or thereabouts, but i should drive more conservatively... plus i have an automatic
I'm pretty amazed myself on how far i'm able to go with the gas light on. I'm just afraid that i'll be too confident one day and pay the consequence for it.
I think I've been able to go about 60 miles with the gas light on.

I put almost 13 gallons in one time. I usually fill up at about 330-350 miles no matter what the gauge says.
I have run out of gas with other cars and it was not fun. It's not good for the car either.

depends where i am how far i can get on a tank, but i usually just wait until the needle is BELOW empty, which means there is still about a gallon and a half left in the tank. closest i've ever come was 12.94 gallons, our tanks hold 13.5. almost ran out of gas in my old car, it was coughing and i was coasting up to the station. but i agree, the gauges are f'd up in civics, and it's not just the 7th gen, it's always been that way. maybe it has to do with the way the gas tank is shaped?
i wish someone would make a DIY on how to take your tank apart and fix the needle in there that reads gas, because if you go up a hill your gas goes down and if u go down the other side it goes up..... so yea

Our tanks have 13.2 gallons. I usually get 300 miles before I come close to the E marker. I did autocross on this tank and I'm almost out of gas... Autocross really eat up fuel... I should be at about 300 with the gas I got left, but instead I'm at like 260... Oh well. I still get great mileage.

good topic! i just drove home with that stupid lite on... i was nervous because i used about a gallon after the lite came on. however, when i went to the station it said i got 11 gallons in. i thoguht the light comes on when you have 2 gallons left....
kinda weird huh?
kinda weird huh? I usually go between 350 and 375 miles before fill up.
I don't rely on the gauge too much, or the light. I've had the light come on for a while, and then go off, so I'm not sure the car knows what it is trying to tell me. Although, it sure is helpful when you don't realize how low on gas you are

I wont go more than 45 miles before filling up.. and that is if I have to (it takes me about 50 miles to get to work or school) Anyways.. I've ran out of gas twice and both times because I went around 50-60 miles after the gas light came on.

yea, try not to let the car run out of gas... its bad for the car... lets dirt from the bottom of the fuel tank get into the fuel injectors...
Closest I've gotten is 12.09 gall fill-up. I've adopted a stupid habit of waiting till the gas light comes on before filling up because I was tracking my mileage for a while. But now thats its getting colder, I'm gonna have to stop that. I hear its bad to be running low cause more condensation will build up in the tank.
But yeah, I agree with ALLcustom2k1. I try to fill up before I hit 75 miles, after the light comes on.

The idiot light for the gas is really stupid. The first time it went off, I flipped, because I figured there was still plenty of gas in there judging by milage. So I stopped at the next station and only put 10.5 Gal. in. So whoopdy doo... I could have gone almost 100 miles further. The light comes on too early, people are going to stop ignoring it all together. I just fill mine up every 380-400 miles which amounts to about 4 days of commuting back and forth to work. I don't even look at the gas gauge very much anymore.

you can buy fuel injector cleaner from any general auto parts store (kragen, pep boys)... you just pour it in the tank when you fill up and it will clean your injectors.... same thing honda dealers use in one of their "major" tune ups...
Tires should be rotated every 5,000 miles or so...
dang, i've driven 96.5 miles with the light on. all the way from home to LA and back and i was still able to make it to the gas station the next morning. i've never really cared what the gauge says, i get somewhere from 300-350 miles per tank. however, i never fill my tank up, just about 6 gallons every time, and it's gone 2 days later...
the stupid gas light comes on way too early in my civic. I'll usually let it get down to the red line and then I'll go fill up... Everytime I do this I fill up with only 10.5-11 gallons... So I get all paranoid about running out of gas for nothing cuz I still have plenty left in there.... *shakes head*
