Ford Recalls Focus Again
November 5, 2002
Ford announced two recalls of more than 572,000 2000 and 2001 model-year Focus cars. Most of the cars being recalled are in the U.S. but some are in Canada, Mexico and other countries.
One recall involves a bolt in the front suspension that may be loose. This can cause noise, vibration or, in a small number of cases, separation of the ball joint, the company said. The fix calls for inspecting the lower control arm hardware and tightening, or replacing, the affected bolt if necessary.
The other recall involves Focus vehicles with Zetec engines in which potential problems with battery cable routing could result in smoke, wire melting or a fire
. The fix calls for inspecting and re-routing of the cables and replacement if necessary.

The civic I had keeps stalling on me as well. At least Ford is good enough to admit there's a problem and issue a fix.[hr]

Only Focus built in Mexico is the hatch (zx3, zx5 and svt) so don´t blame it on the plant. That car is probably breaking all the recall records.
when I look at these things I realize the civic is not that bad at all, even with the little quirks.
And still car and driver puts this car in their 10 best list...

just cause they're built in Mexico doesn't mean they are badly built, it means that the Desing and R&D that goes on in the US is the one with the quality control problem, and belive me cheap labor is not what it seems you should come to any foreign company's plant here in Mexico........

damn... and they recall when it's absolutely necessary.. (things may go wrong and they may be sued for it)...
I wonder what else is wrong with it that Ford is not saying.
