Well my bro gets my 2k1 civic so this summer im gettin my RSX
Well just as soon as my dad told me he was gonna let me buy my civic he decides that this summer my brother gets it and i have to get a new car. Trust me i dont mind cuz it will be and RSX Type-S. I have test drove the car once and i loved it. As of right now i have 2,000 saved up and have till july. The best part is because im losin my civic my dad is puttin in the down payment.
So i fugre come summer i will have enough money to do whatever i please to my new car and quite frankly i cant wait. But anyways onto my questions.
I read an article in SCC awhile back and greddy had a turbo on an rsx, is this existent yet to buy or is it still in developmental and testing stages?
What intake/header/exhaust would those of you who own them suggest?
Finally does anyone know a good site where i could get a look at all the parts and body kits available for the car?
Thanx

I don't wanna rain on your parade, but it doesn't sound like you can really afford an RSX-S. Maybe you should consider a car that's less money so that you don't acquire $20,000 of debt at such a young age. JMO. I'm 20, and I'll be done with college in 3 years, but I probably won't buy a new car till I'm 26 or so. Nowadays, people live beyond their means and end up retiring with no money in the bank because they were always living 2 steps ahead. They drive nice cars, but don't have 2 bucks to put in the gas tank. Anyways, I'm rambling. I just got out of my econ class and this is what we're talking about right now. Good luck with your type s.

It's all about your priorities. When Paul Orfalea (the guy who started up Kinko's) talked to my class, he brought up the fact that the secret to amassing large amounts of money is to not blow your money on things you can't afford. So, if you can't afford to pay cash for an M3 and still have money in the bank for your mortgage, you might wanna wait till you're more financially stable. Real Estate is a great investment because the property appreciates while you live in it. Inversely, cars depreciate as time goes by.
VNlilMAN, I'm glad to hear you're thinking about your future. A lot of the guys on this site can't wait to get financed for an IS300 or an Sti. There's no doubt that we all want these cars, but deciding when to buy these cars has a big impact on our financial freedom. Good Luck.

I have my RSX in my own name and I sold my 2k1 civic for $12000 and put 3000 down on the Type-S. Got it on clearance with 2.9% APR...anyone beat that? I can't stand spoiled peeps that get everything handed to them...reality will be a rude awakening one day. My insurance rate is based on my credit rating, and my rates did not change from the EX coupe to the Type-S. I know this guy who is 16 and got a new IS300. Rims, Sparcos, exhuast and then he wrapped it around a tree while racing....mommy and daddy punished him with a new G35...wtf! Life is unfair...
My RSX is in my own name as well. I sold my 03 Civic for $2500 (plus take over payments) to my cousin and got an 03 RSX-S with 2.9% APR and a down payment of $3000.
Get this. . . while I was at the dealership getting my RSX there was this family there also buying a car. The family and I were dealing with the same dealer. The dealer was telling me the story and I also overheard a few things. I overheard the son (who's 19 years old, doesn't work, and has an RSX-S that his parents bought him) talking to his dad about how the insurance is going to be so high. The dad said "WHAT?! Are you f*cking kidding me?!". (I'm guessing the parents don't know too much about cars.) And I'm also guessing they didn't have enough money because they used (now get this) a credit card for a down payment of $5000. What car did they buy, you ask? A 2003 Acura CL Type S. And who exactly was this car for? Their other son, who's 16 (and was working that day), because he totaled his Integra. And from what I heard, it sounded like the their 16-year-old son ask them to buy him that specific car.
I felt so sorry for the mom because she looked so sad. It was like she didn't know what her and her husband was getting into. You should've seen her face.

Damn... I've heard those stories back in highschools.. kids totaled their IS300 and get a BMW. I had a friend that was driving a Jeep. He got a ticket for speeding and the parents blamed the car and got him an Accord. It's insane.. so unfair. how do these dumb parents end up having so much money?

Heh...my friend used to drive an IS300 with spinners and all this internal work done. He totalled it, of course, within a few months of owning it!
He purchased a 94-97 Supra TT for $28000....and has added about $6000 worth of mods towards just the engine. None of that money was his.

I knew another guy whose parents are friggin rich! He used to drive a hooked up 00 Prelude. He sold it and got an 01 BMW 330ci. After he got the bimmer, he (his parents) also bought an 01 Yamaha R1. He didn't crash any of it, but his bike got stolen about 6 months after he got it.

You are right on time with your comments and more people should pay attention to what they do between ages 16-30. Play later and save now or you will end up ready to retire and thinking damn I wish.......................would have, could have, should have. Sure live life to the fullest, buy your car accesories, use some money to pay for your hobby and some for fun, but by all means PAY YOURSELF FIRST. There are too many good, safe investments out there that can make you great money over time. Do a net search for and just read what can happen when you invest young instead of waiting........................what do you have to lose? Best of luck with the new RSX brother!Check this link http://www.fool.com/mutualfunds/mutu....htm?source=LN
Yeah my civic turns 3 yrs old next july and yeah was looking at the accord but dunno for the money thinking I will just jump into the RSX cheaper then the Accord ex. Yeah it won't be the type-s by any means perfect driving record but don't feel like putting all my extra money to the insurance people for an extra 40 hp hehe. From my civic ex to a base rsx will be enough for awhile.

Drive safely.
