Can anyone help me?

Ok, so I just bought the beater...and the heater works intermitently. More off than on. Anyways, I want to fix it since it's a winter car. I took everything appart and looked at the heater coil and all the linkages. They look good to me. The HVAC controls are electric so they don't move any of the linkages, only send e-signal to a servo that does the job. Now, it could be the servo but I can hear it change from floor to head to defrost so that works. I'm thinking the controls are bad and doesn't sense it's in heat.

Anyways, does anyone have any experience with this sort of stuff? It's an 88 Celica GT Coupe w/auto a/c controls. I'm going to call a junker tomorrow and find out how much it would be to buy that part used. Hopefully that's the problem and I can fix it with a bill or bill and a half tops. Thanx for the help.
