Security system - void warranty?

Hey, I'm looking into some aftermarket security systems for my '02 Civic Ex. I know it comes stock with the whole fuel line cut off and some other shizniat. My question is: #1 will I void the warranty on my car by installing another security system. and #2 - is it actually worth it?

Gracias amigos.

I talked to the dealer and an alarm won't void your warrenty if you get it from an authorized install location like circuit city.

I personally like Viper systems. I have a Viper 600 ESP system with many addons (backup battery, proximity sensors, hood/trunk protection and more). It ran me about $550.

I definately think an alarm is worth it for an extra deterrent if you have an expensive audio system. The immobilizer is all the protection you need from getting your *car* stolen. If you need protection for other things in your car, then get it. Then again, most people don't pay attention to sirens anymore.

But yes, alarm is a must just to ward off potential thieves. With prox. sensor, alarm will chirp a few times when someone lingers close to your ride. A good deterrent. (It was my second "mod." First was cool blue bulbs.)

If you're going to get an aftermarket alarm at least get one that has a paging unit so you know when the alarm is going off. The compustar one (ss or 2wfm) pager unit shows exactly what's going on with your car. Shows whether or not your door is open, hood, trunk lights are on. Pages within seconds of the alarm going off up to 1/4 mile radius. The viper is nice too, but the pager itself is not as detailed as the compustar.

Also, immobilizers should get you some discount on your comprehensive for your insurance. It saved me $40!!

Thanks for the input. Let's say I want to install it myself. Do you think I will have issues with the warranty then? I'd rather save the money AND learn how to install a security system at the same time - that's why I have a civic so I can mod the biatch! And heck yea I want a pager type thingy. That'd just be kewL.

Peace out.

Poor guy.
hmmmmm. Yea. I'd prolly generally call the cops after I had checked my car out from a distance.
(Also, I would bring my own bat, and I have a really tough girlfriend). lol

That's why it's good to have a gun - for those occasions. I love my .45 Couger.
