I don't know why Porsche wants to alienate their clients with a f-ucking SUV. I mean, what were they thinking?? I understand the SUV market is now huge, and they want to take a chunk of it, but geezes... leave that to Audi/VW. Porsche is about sportscars. They are really milking the brand name now. They could've at least made a front-engine grand tourer first, and spin off a "wagon" version from it, but no, they decides to go with a f-ucking SUV.
Porsche's logic: People who drive Boxsters & 911 own other vehicles, which may be either a sedan, or an SUV, or both. They figured they'd tackle the SUV part.
Doesn't it make sense for Porsche to go after the "sedan" part, before the SUV? Think about it. Porsche sports sedan. Something of an M5/RS6 caliber, but lighter & more nimble. Sounds good to me.
Porsche truck? I don't know........... if I want an exclusive truck, I look be looking to Land Rover, Mercedes or Lexus. Not Porsche.
The only positive thing that will come out of this whole deal will be this new V8 engine. They'll probably use it on their next car, whatever it may be (rumoured ot be a 2+2 front engine car, to compete with Ferrari Maranello & Aston Martin Vanquish).

IMO, Porsches truely stand up and uphold their own personal visual trademarks, like the shape of the headlughts and hood, the curvature of the body and of course the backend. Personally, i think it might of been an unnecssary step taken by porsche to make this SUV.

I can think of 1 good use for that thing... Paris - Dakar Rally. That;s about it. Other than that, it's ugly, and I agree with the soccer mom thing, although, I doubt any soccer moms will be driving 100K SUV's. My thought is, if you've got 100K, you should be buying something a little better looking. I'd rather the $70 K 911, which is just as fast, and also looks and handles better.
Well the company's got to make money somehow, and the only way that's gonna happen is to product a more practical product. Now I agree that an SUV probably isn't the BEST choice for doing that, but I can understand what porsche is tring to do, keep their company alive! (I still would rather have the 911 over that god awful SUV though....)
Trust me when I tell you that Porsche would not be having financial difficulties if they were to not make that vehicle. Everyone knows Porsche is a company known for their fast cars, not SUV's. Im not going to give my opinion on why I think they should have or not should have made that monstrosity because its their business. But unfortunately opinions are like @$$holes.
I sure wish my car was newer

I think it will sell well in Europe where a car like that is necessary (performance, handling, and space) but not in the US. We're too focused on aesthetics to buy something like that. When I get the money to buy a REAL car (a real sports car) it'll be a Porsche. But for daily drivers and semi-SUV type things, I'm gonna stick with Audi.

Porsche is also planning to produce a pickup truck, something along the lines like the GMC Cyclone, or Ford's truck... But a whole lot faster..
