Do u think radar detector is useful?

I found it radar detector is actually useless becoz it won't do anything until the cop open their radar.
so if they open the radar, its too late to be not getting caught!
any comment?

Sometimes radar decectors save you and other times it's too late.
It also depends on what kind you get and what features it has.

I have one that is kinda old, but it has saved me many times, but then again there was that one time...

Radar detectors are becominig more useless now adays. If you use one and think that you won't get caught speeding... you will.

With the advent of new technologies such as 3rd generation LIDAR and instant on radar (which isn't new) you can't get around it.

Instant on radar, you can't detect unless they actually pull the trigger. But when they pull your trigger, it's too late and you're already screwed.

You're not even safe weaving through traffic anymore. 3rd generation LIDAR is wicked. At one mile, the beam is only 6 inches wide. In other words, it's accurate as hell. And if I also remember correctly, there are no radar/laser detecters that even work/detect 3rd gen lidar. I shot a valentine 1 radar detector with a 3rd gen lidar gun and the radar detector didn't do a damn thing.

It's also wicked because it's accurate. The cops can pick you off in a group of cars as you are moving through traffic, speeding all the while. The gun reads out the exact range in feet, the speed, and whether you are coming or going. And it has one helluva range. It's effective range is somewhere around 3500 feet, depending on the gun. I picked off a jeep moving through traffic at 3300 feet. I shot him between two trees that were hiding the squad car. Do you know how far 3300 feet is? At that distance cars are just about a blurry spec. Unless he had eagle vision, he'd never have seen me. And he didn't.

So don't ever speed thinking that your RADAR detector will save you.... cuz it won't.

Get an Escort, they will pay for your ticket if you ever get one, they cost about $300.

Oh yeah just because you have a radar detector doesn't mean that you can drive like a maniac, they will save you only if you are going a lil bit over the speed limit that way you can stop in time, if your crazy and go like 50 mph over, You will get caught

Radar detectors on the whole are becoming more useless. Most new technology gives cops all the advantages, and even using the logic "it's for when I only go a little over so I have time to slow down" doesn't really work that well anymore. Unless you live out in the middle of nowhere and the cops that patrol are using the order "always on" radar, detectors aren't worth the money and can give you a lot of false confidence. My .02

Read the disclamer on the ticket pay warranty... it says somewhere in there you have to be doing less than 15 over. In which case, it is useless on the highway because you will never get a ticket for 15 over on the interstate. unless you're doing something like 50 in a 35, you never have to worry about that.
