Rep Power: 0 I will put an end to this. I couldnt hit 150 in my Si. Spraying, running flat out in 5th gear, with my passenger seat, spare and tools taken out while I was racing an N20 GTS, my spedo toped out at a REGISTERED 138 (the celica said he got 140 on his, which is funny because I won), which is probably ~125-130 in actuality. No way in hell you did 150 unless you pushed it out of a plane @ 20K feet.

Rep Power: 0 You are so correct. Not to mention how many of you have smaller diameter tires? Logically, taking into account for aerodynamics and engine perfomance, the car with taller tires should have a higher top speed... less revolutions per mile.
So basic rule should be small tires, it's quicker lower speeds. Taller tires faster on top end.

Here's my question for all of you......
Why do you believe what your speedometer is reading? Several tests have confirmed that speedometers are not dead-on acurate, especially as speed increases. One test I read a while back had a speedometer reading almost 20 MPH MORE than the car was travelling. So, I believe no one, unless you either have calibrated your speedometer, or have another source. (Radar / laser gun, for example)
Just my $.02
Rep Power: 0 Note: The Following Applies Only to Civics with a MANUAL transmission.
Ok, here ya go, this will put everything to rest, first off the EX can only go 145 at Redline in 5th gear, so black99vtec is lying, or he has bigger tires.
The LX and DX models have governers on them so they can only go something like 115 (it says this in the manual), the following Link is a spreadsheet I made in excell that will tell you what speed your going at a given RPM. You can chang the gear ratios around if you want as well as see what different tire sizes will do to your speed.
As stated earlier, The HX theoretcally has the highest Rev limited top speed of 175 miles an hour, also, the HX's 4th gear is Identical to the EX's 5th gear, while the ex will Rev limit at 145 mph. NOW, I don't think either car could go anywhere neer that speed with stock equipment because of how wind resistance increases exponentally with speed. So, going 120 is much easier than going 130.
ANYWAY, if you did get going 150, you have a special and unique civic

Rep Power: 336 I have an LX 01 - 2dr - MT, with a CAI and I hit 130.
I could have kept going but got nervous and slowed down.
Everything else is stock, performance wise, except for the exhaust.

Rep Power: 0 PunkingCivic- 130 in an LX?! Unless you bypass the rev- limiter via an ECU upgrade, there is no way that is possible. Prove it.
I've gone just over 125 mph. I don't want to try higher till i get my engine balanced/ blueprinted.
