ATTN:people with automatics
i recently saw a post of somebody asking if differnt shifter would work. does anybody have pics of their auto w/ a different style shifter??? if so just include link or pic below, i'm planning on getting new shifter and then taking out plastic around shifter and replcaing with leather so that it looks like a stick shift. (im soo embarassed that my dad actaully pick'd me an auto.)

Rep Power: 0 i have an auto and i dont mind having it. but seriousely, that PRND32 looks like *** if you think about it. thats y companies use a shiftboot, as a filler. like does a 5 speed NEED a shiftboot? does it affect its performance? no. its there to fill an ugly gap. so are you people who say its rice think that auto corvettes, auto buicks, and auto bmws are rice?
if he wants a shiftboot let him have a shiftboot, but thats a dumb reason to want it just because youre ashamed of having an auto.

rijowysock, if you did a little search in members rides, you will find that a lot of people have aftermarket shifters on their automatics. Mine included.

Rep Power: 0 sorry about the bad spelling im soo tired tonight, but anyways i went to local discount auto and they have a shifter for an auto there. but has no directions or anything telling how to install. how do i install(or is it as easy as unscrew, put on, screw back).

Rep Power: 0 to install the shifter and the boot you have to remove the entire center console...but if you just install the shifter all you do is remove the 2 screws on the shifter and install the new shifter....

Rep Power: 319 actually I used to have a Matrix shift **** (what Taz is referring to) but not too long ago I replaced it with the OEM shifter. I'll admit, I like the design of the OEM shifter, but the main reason I switched it out is I used to like resting my hand on top of it when I drove. alot more comfortable than the Matrix one.

that you're getting it to fool people into thinking you drive a stick then you're an idiot. If you really wanted

Rep Power: 0 haha, i've thought about it too, not to fool anybody, but just b/c it'd look a little better. but now, if anything, i'd like to change the lighting around the gear shifter, maybe put in some LEDs instead of bulbs.

i dunno if anyone else have this, but this **** ain't for Hondas. they are meant for toyotas, subarus, nissans, any car that has overdrive. so yeah.. it will NOT fit perfectly, since you need to make crucial ajustments to actually fit, and shift(for Parking and Reverse especially).. it's too technical.. i couldn't get my key out or shift to Park when i turned off my engine..
i'll sell it to anybody who's interested since the **** is still in perfect condition, no scratch no nothing. however, the pieces you need they give u to fit with the **** is modified (it looks damaged but it was the only way it worked with home garage tools) so there should be no problem. had it for 8 months so this proves it haha.

Rep Power: 0 I agree with what everyone's been saying, don't do it because you want the car to look like a 5 speed...do it because it looks clean. I think it does at least...
High end cars have it as well, BMW, Mercedes...it looks fine to swap it out...as a matter of fact, I think it makes more sense because you already have that display on the gauges to show what gear you're in...
Do what you want to do though...I'd just change the motives for which you're changing it out for...
