b16 in auto 6thgen?

i need a little help guys. MY dad and i bought a 1996 civic ex coupe as a little father son project.(his idea.) MY problem is im not sure the jdm or usdm b16 will be compatible with an automatic. i know the swap usually includes the new tranny and ecu but we want to keep it auto.what problems could i run into? do u guys think it would just be better to redo the internals instead?

AFAIK, there is no such thing as an auto B16. The B16 comes out of the 6th gen Si, which is a 5-spd. Looks like you're going to be SOL and you're going to have to be building up the current engine if you want to keep it auto.

WRONG. There was an auto transmission for the B16, however it was only released in Japan, and they are very rare. But you can still get them.

Hence why I said AFAIK. I wasn't 100% positive that there was never an auto tranny, but never had heard of it. Thanks for proving me wrong.

my bad didnt notice the AFAIK...thought it stood for the main guys user name or something, as I just skim over messages.

Didnt mean to come off sounding harsh, just trying to prove a point

As for finding a auto b16 tranny it's not easy. Best place to ask is on Honda-Tech.

Can't you get a B18 from an auto Integra LS, then do the VTEC swap?
Why not try that....

Does this mean, if I were to do a K20 Swap, my Auto will turn into a manual?

If you didnt know that, I wouldnt even attempt that swap.

the K20A2 is manual only, which of course means if you have an auto now you HAVE to convert.

This is really sad, brand new cars and we are discussing swapping in engines based on 10-year old technology. So much for progress.

A) you get the tranny with the engine
B) there is a reason why there is no such thing as a Del SOl B16, Civic B16, or Integra B18C.
