Took the EX to tha track today....

And man, the freakin' car is SLOOOOOOOOWWWWWW......

Ok yeah, all i've got is the SRI (some cheap one), the 2" custom catback, and the loud-a$$ muffler....sounds nice though.... and it's a 5-spd, EX, sooooo.....

I ran a 17.0........ Is that slow or what???!!! I don't know how some of you people are running low 16's but mine just needs to be taken out of its misery. So i'm taking my car and trading it for a 2000 Si.... what do y'all think?? I'm gonna stick with a B-series engine.... I thought about getting an RSX Type S but I've realized they're a little overpriced. Maybe later though....

if you're all about performance and especially about having it now, then yeah you'd be making a good choice

Well... the entire problem isn't the car... an intake and exhaust alone isn't gonna do wonders. I think you should consider the 4-1 HP race header with high flow cat.

And a 17 for a Civic is NOT the car. Was this your first time? How experienced are you at drag racing? You could seriously run 16s in an Si when it does mid 15s stock. The HP header would at least bring you into the high 15s... if you're a fairly good driver.

Yeah I'm going pure performance. I mean, I like the nice, clean look that this car has, but I want something fast.

Yeah, I know when to shift and how much to rev it up (usually around 3000-3500 to launch), and I even let my friend who drives an RX-7 (his engine blew ) and he got it down to a 16.8. So i don't know what to tell ya... We're both good drivers.

The Civic Ex 5spd from various car wesites saids it runs 16.2-16.5 stock and i agree. With the stuff you have on your car cheap or not, it should at least run high 15's. I really don't think it's the car but if you wanna get the SI...go for it.

Baytown? Is that Houston area Baytown? If so then I guess you went to Houston Raceway Park. My best time there was 16.3

There's the problem. If you're launching around 3,000 RPMs with tirespin, your tires must have no traction what-so-ever OR --- I hope you're not dumping the clutch on your launches because that would explain the crap-*** 17.

Some one is making the right decision here!! A lot of people here are saying that all the boltons will make you faster but it's really a microscopic difference. I got my 2001 Civic Coupe from my dad for free, if he had it he would put 50 miles on it every day just to get to work and back. He didn't want to ruin a nice brand new Civic just to go to work and back so I got it. Now I have the money for my own car and I'm definitely going B SERIES. My little bro has a B16 powered 1988 CRX and that thing is soooooo much faster than my civic. It’s like night and day. I don't mean to dis the 7th gen civic or the members on this site but all of us buy our cars for diff reasons and if you bought a 2001 civ to race you are riding in the wrong wagon. At this moment I already have reserved a JDM B18c from a JDM Integra GS-R. I have studied the subject and 92-95 Civic's have the exact came engine bay as the JDM Integras 94-96, No welding to mount kits just a wiring harness and some other little stuff. I'm planning to put it in a 92-95 Civic hatchback CX or VX. Both of these models weight lust a little over 2000 lbs. With a little work the power to weight ratio on this car will DOUBLE and I will pay half of what my father paid for the 2001 civ. sorry about all this writing but I’m so excited I can't stop. I can't wait till me and my bro go to the Phoenix International Raceway and run low 14's or high 13's together. Do some research dude a swap like mine is not hard, or just buy someone’s project and improve it, that’s what my bro did and we haven't had any problems.

No, i'm not just dumping the clutch, i'm sorta playing with it letting it go halfway and then completely. It's called 'feathering' the clutch. And yeah, I went to the Houston Raceway Park. There was a white Supra there......

So I might just need new tires, I have been a little rough on them. Oh and by the way, there's another thread on here that was started, and some guy was complaining that his Civic is running a 17.2....after he had been running low 16's before.

I recently took my 2001 Civic EX Coupe to the track. The track is near Orlando, FL. It was this past friday night and it was pretty hot and humid. My best time was 16.76 and I have only Injen CAI and a N1 Muffler, and I'm running on 17s. Whatever, I really don't care if I'm fast or not, I just go with my friends to have fun at the track. Plus, I don't get why you're going to go through all the trouble to sell your car and get a new or used car to go like one or two seconds faster. Just my 2 cents

1 or 2 sec is a lot faster....

I mean, the difference between 12 second and 11 second is

but um, get rid of that crappy SRI, its robbing u of your low end... run it stock, see if you get a faster time. I wouldn't be surprised.

where u run the car matters too.

are u at sea level? or above? temperature matters too...

anyhow, the car's not fast. thats for sure.

I'm running 16.4 in my Hx, that is with a CAI and a Magnaflow muffler and stock tires. It's all in the driver, I know that a Ex can run a better time than that! I've got some 16 inch subzeros on Flakens maybe I 'll do better.

Um, then you wasted $18,000 in purchasing the wrong car. Once again... lets all say it together... ECONOBOX. Thats right, I didn't say street racer. Its a Honda for goodness sakes. Just make it look nice.

Hell yeah...

1 second faster than a 16.3 is as good as a stock Si or GS-R.

2 seconds faster than a 16.3 is as good as an RSX Type R and close to the average S2000 driver who can't launch their car properly.

Sure there's a lot faster out there but you know what that means... even more $$$$

So, you are saying to loose the sri for better low-end? Why would you want to do that? Then, you loose the added power in the top of the gears where you need it when running the 1/4. A proper launch will take care of the torque issue.

Oe setup may make it easier to launch properly but you'll lose the top-end power.

An intake with a good launch gives you the best of both worlds.

Ok, first of all, YES the SRI is going to help me a LOT in the 1/4 mile. After all, I'm not going for top end here, i'm just going for a quick run. Am i right or what?

and 1 or 2 seconds is going to make a MAJOR MAJOR difference. SoNiCcIvIc was right when he said that. Cuz yeah, think about it....if our civics can run a 16.2 and you ran it 2 seconds faster, you'd be keeping up with Mustang GT's and WRX's easy. So having a car that is 1 or 2 seconds faster is sweeeeet....

and LOL, I know I bought an ECONOBOX, but look at it this way... it's fun and challenging trying to make our slow-a$$ cars faster.... of course, this is still a bad choice, but if you can get down to a 15.8 or even a 15.6, it's very satisfying to know that you've brought it down considerably.

By the way, I raced a 7th Gen last week from a dead stop at a red light, and i took him baaaaaaaad. the poor sucker didn't know when the light was gonna turn green and i launched at least 1 to 2 cars ahead of him. And he couldn't keep up.... but after running about a 1/4 mile, we saw a cop on the other side and we slowed down and quit. So at least my car isn't that slow cuz otherwise he could've passed me up in second gear, but he could only keep up and not pass me.

You are going for top-end POWER, not speed. You want the power in the mid to top rmp range since that is where the rpms will be after 1st gear.

And another thing, the temperature was either in the high 80's or low 90's so it was pretty hot. Later on that night it started getting cooler, but I took off. Too many stangs....
