according to the shop that H-town civic got his k20 swap done at, it's just as easy to swap any b-series motor in, as the k-series. The only ones that won't work are the b-20, and h-22 (due to lack of space in engine bay) You're looking at spending quite a bit of cash.

please tell me how "it is just as easy" considering the 2 engines turn in a completly different direction from each other.

RSXtypeIvtec is on a distinguished road
i believe he means "just as easy" as in it takes the same amount of work to swap in Kseries into 7thgen civic
compared to the work of swapping in a B-series into the 7thgen.....
ive also heard that too....
keep in mind, "just as easy" doesnt mean its going to be easy.....overall!

ya man...

but...

the main problem the guys had with HTown's was that they didn't have the RSX subframe!!!

I read an article in honda tuning about the K series, and they said that HASport has the motor mounts to fit the rsx subframe (why wouldn't the stock ones work?), and that you need the subframe to actually do the swap.

I imagine that if HTown had the subframe, it woulda been a lot easier/faster. That's what took them the majority of the time IIRC?

A B series swap would be cool, though.

hmmm....i dont see why a b series swap would be as hard a k series.... at least u could modify the current subframe on the 7th gen instead of having to make one from scratch. Plus with all the b swaps done....after its got tricked mounts and clearance, wiring should be a breeze. I dont see why the gsr or si (coupe) tranny wouldnt fit with little modification. Too bad it would be impossible to find a subframe from an rsx at a junkyard.

According to Jeff Schaeffer, a B-series swap would be easier than the K20 swap, because you could use the existing motor mounts. You would most likely have to modify the crossmember/subframe to make the motor fit, however.

Well that's what we basically did - create a new RSX subframe for my car. We purchased an OEM RSX crossmember and did some welding on it to make it fit. For all intents and purposes, my car's subframe is identical to the RSX.

The majority of the work was just figuring out how to make everything fit correctly, what welds needed to be made, and in turn what parts needed to be purchased. I have no doubt that IB will be able to do the next K20 swap MUCH faster and easier, now that all the hard part (figuring out stuff) has been accomplished.
