Mercury Marauder
What does everyone think of the new Mercury Marauder? I'm a big fan of full-sized RWD sedans...so this is one of my "dream" cars. Actually, my dream car is a Police Interceptor with a blown DOHC 5.4L Navigator motor swap.

It's the same platform as the Police Interceptor...they're all Panthers. Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Car are the others.

The Marauder almost defines the term "sleeper." Who would think that car has 302 hp under the hood just by looking at it? No one. There are a lot of cars I'd take before that, but I sure would like to have one.

The nice thing about it is it's potential for more power. The 4.6L DOHC V8 ...add a blower, head work, chip, etc. etc. and you've got one sick sleeper.

Road and Track tested it as 0-60mph at 6.9 seconds and the 1/4 in 15.8. I wouldnt call it fast, but quick.

Yeah, it's not a speed demon, but that is because of it's weight. Imagine it pushing 450hp with mods though...muahahahaha! Die ricers!

Just read an article regarding chipping the Marauder. Dyno sheet shows +20hp with Dennis Reinhart chip. WTF, why can't something like that work for our cars. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/IMG]

Stupid emissions [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/IMG].

I chipped a SOHC 4.6L to run on premium fuel, lower stat, colder plugs, and a shift kit...that thing took off like whoa...

Unfortunately all the 4.6L motors are detuned. They have so much more potiental if Ford would open the intakes up, but emmisions wont allow it. Take the 03 Cobra. People have been seeing 370rwhp and according to John Colleti, the thing is "breathing threw a straw".
