My first day at the track
I went to the Route 66 race track last night and it was packed. It was my first time legally racing and i only ran twice. I would like to get some constructive critisism. Here are my times.

1/8 10.871
mph 64.58

Heat up your tires, drop the pressure in the front tires and really jsut practice with different launch rpm's, slipping the clutch dropping it..etc And a good RT will make a huge differnce

I would have liked to pratice more at the track but it was so packed. I was in line for at total of 5 1/2 hours for just two runs
Now i have to wait till spring

burning out on street tires (baring the street slicks) HURTS traction.

Not making the tires bald or smokin the tires, but anyone will tell you that some heat in your tires will improve traction...
NO. SPECIFIC tires have super soft compounds and in some cases special side walls and tread that allow for greater traction after heating them up. Your standard street tire, be it a stock one of a Z rated all season, are NOT these tires. Those tires tear at the tread. this rubber is then torn off and rolled under the tire cretaing traction robbing rubber ball berrings. On top of that, the compound which thw tire is made of does not react with greater traction as the tire heats up over normal operating temps (ie burn outs do jack). the best thing to do is to peel out a BIT to clean off any dirt or rocks, but avoid the water box and burning out all over the place, for above said reasons. BTW, I am the person people "ask" about such things
LOL...Holy krap Joe wanna a write a manual on making everything extremely clear. I totally agree with you. After sitting for two hours waiting for his turn at the 1/4 do you think his tires are at operating temparature? I don't think so..So heating them a little would be a good idea. Yes to try and go out and do a smoke show would be pointless and a waist of rubber.
I'm just busting your rainbow so don't take offense. You basically jsut reiterated what I said except explained it for the people that need things to be spelled out to them.

To get the max performance for racing those 1/4's, first you just need to practice on that rt...I know that you can do better...next launch at the max torque of the car...just drop the clutch at 3000(?) at least thats what I believe is the max torque...you'll spin the wheels, but its the fastest way to run those 1/4's

Ahem. RT has NOTHING to do with ET. you can sit at the light for a minute, get a RT of 1:02, and still run a 14 second ET. the timer doesnt start untill you cross the starting line.
Edit: and if you think ANY civic produces its max torque at 3K you are sorely mistaken.
