I have a GAS q.
For the love of god use 87! Our cars our actually tuned for 86! We have no knock sensors...higher octane will do nothing.
This has been asked a thousand times, and it's a giant controversy every time.
edit: so people read it dammit

the new 02 Si/SiR dosnt even require 91+. You're wasting money if you're buying anything but 87.[hr]

its a proven fact, that unless your engine was designed for it (or if it is so old its detonating everywhere) putting higher octaine gasoline does the 3 following things
1. wastes money
2. makes the same ammount of power as the lower octaine gasolines
and
3. creates more polution.
and who said the new Si doesnt take premium? mine does, and i dont mean just because it uses N20 eiyher, thats in the manual.. then again i dont own a 02 Si...

Actually, I don't use the premiums for same reason you guys think, lol. From what I've read, they use some other chemicals in the premiums that also help keep the engine running better. I will look up the article and link it for you guys.

Next oil change try this...use Amsoil synthetic 5w20. Add a bottle of Chevron Techron to a full tank of 87 octane gas. You should notice a big improvement.
BTW, using a higher octane than recommended should result in a loss of power and MPG.

actually i just got an oil change last week and i just filled up the tank right now. i can't stand to get dirty so i take my car to honda to oil changes. i figured if i asked them what was wrong with my car they wouldn't give a bleep... so i'm asking you guys. maybe i'll use some of that Chevron Techron to a full tank of 87 octane gas. it's more expensive, but well worth the try! thanx PESTLNC!

Thats pretty good... i use 87, and occasionally 91 when gas is really cheap... but i get around an average of 400 kms/tank.... it's an auto, and mainly local driving... is that good or bad?

gas additives are also a crock. techron, prothane and the rest of the made up crap are just buzz words.

I usually run around 450km before the needle dips below the 1/4 mark...

If you're getting your oil changed by a dealer, make sure they're not putting in 10w30. I've heard stories of dealers putting that in every car they do changes on. It would definately affect your fuel economy.[hr]

I'll find the cheapest 87 octane I can get as long as from a known name gas station. Some of those little cheap gas stations have very bad gas.

Your B series has higher compression. I know, I had a 99 Si and it says "Premium Unleaded Fuel Only" on the Gas door.
The 02 Si K20A3 only rev's to 6800rpm...and a compression ratio of 9.8:1. Minimum Octane rating for the motor is 87.[hr]
