Demoralizing evening at the track :(
I went to the local dragstrip to test my car for the first time and was really diappointed. Based on the cars I've beaten on the street, I expected a lot better. Oh well, practice and some better tires should help greatly (Firestones Blow!) Oh and I had my GF in the car too (excess baggage perhaps). Anyway, here's the damage:
R/T: 0.495
60': 2.619
330':7.461
1/8: 11.442 ET
1/8: 62.07 MPH
1/4: 17.709 ET
1/4: 77.66 MPH
BTW I have a 2001 LX MT with I/E.

I dont know why you would ever goto a track with someone else in your car...
that time is weak.... a stock LX should do it in under 17 seconds.. i imagine even a stock auto LX like mine would do better than that time
Keep practicing

ya um

it might look like your car is fast on the street cause most "street racers" have the crappiest cars alive.
people complain too much about 1 passenger...even though i have no clue about how you got away with having a passenger in the first place. 100 lbs = .1 s
dood thats still pretty bad; i have the worst tires ever. $300 for a set of 4. i ran a 17.2 at the track (first time also) by wheelspinning all the way through 1st gear.

Okay, so say there was no passenger = -0.1, 0.2s = 17.5 - 17.6s -still pathetic.
The only thing that made me feel better about myself was I was racing against a 2002 lx sedan with I/E and a passenger and he ran 18.4 against me and 18.3 on another run I saw! ouch! now that REALLY hurts.

Dayum Hondasport01, that is an awesome time for an EX let alone an LX! Do you have any times from before you did those mods? How much was the header/exhaust combo and is it worthhwile?
15.88 with just I/H/E....in a LX without vtec????...do u have timeslips for proof?...sorry but that seems a bit out of the extreme ordinary...if u did run it then im impressed....but i havent seen a manuel EX run that fast with those mods....not even with a professional driver.
I also have a stock lx, even stock wheels and tires and my best time was 16.3 with an almost empty tank.
Probably your shifting is not so good and you are getting a lot of wheelspin since your reaction time is good.

Hondasport01 your tires definitly helped you out... good choice
The main problem with ppls runs are the shoddy firestones. However i find it hard to believe that you ran a 15.88 with those heavy azz 18" enkeis.
Yet again people need to be reminded that a stick EX Coupe can run a 15.8 second 1/4 mile STOCK with a good driver... peace

ummmmm. stock for stock lx's are faster. they are lighter. the ex models are a little bit heavier. plus the VTEC in the ex's are crap. so whats the shcok about a 15.88 without am ex model VTEC?????? i think i saw somewhere that on test at a track they tested the lx MT coupe and the ex MT coupe. both 2002. the lx ran faster by like .2 sec. i don't know exact times.
I believe Hondasport01 just installed the Kamikaze header on his lx. This means that the cat was removed resulting in better air flow. The stock cat restricts the air flow quite a bit and without it the difference in power is noticeable. That time is believable.

Header is going to be my next mod, I think it is responsible for a lot of the power difference between LX and EX.
Oh, I just got some BFGoodrich T/As that seem to be much better than crappy Fstones, especially in the rain. What a difference, the ride is even smoother and quieter. We'll see if they help my 1/4 mile on friday!

Stock v. Stock even mod v. mod the LX is not faster than the EX with equal drivers. I raced an LX with I/E the other day from a roll, granted I have a header and clutch (which makes little difference from a roll), but I beat him by over 2 1/2 cars from 10-90 three times in a row.
Ask me about your mom.

I've read two articles (road and track, and some cheapo canadian mag) that clearly state that in the QUARTER MILE, the LX beats out the EX by roughly .3 seconds.
Now...I'm sure if the track was 1/2 mile, or a mile, the EX would eventually win...but...at least two magazines have tested it out and the LX has come out on top.
BTW, the LX vs. Ex is only 101.4 vs 109.1 to the wheels. it really will come down to how good the driver is!
the track is fun, but would be much more fun in a faster car

exactly. thats what i read too. plus the driver of that lx may have sucked. thats why you must have beaten him. do a search. this topic has been discussed and agreed upon that lx is faster stock v stock.
some people have too much time on there hands...trying to prove that the lx is faster....the difference in weight is negligable, even here in canada where the SI's come with rims, weight difference still pretty negligable... all I can say is look into the compression ratios and the power bands of stock civics on dynos....you'll notice its much wider on the EX.SI...and oh yeah witha ll that said...the LX is a faster....if that were true, the same reasoning would work for the DX, and it doesnt, after all a DX has the same engine as the Lx just less weight so to say.....
