What can you do?
Since everyone drives alot, what IF someone frames YOU for hitting their car??????
I'm just really curious because this actually happened to my dad.
2 girls just went to the police and said he did a hit and run. They gave his license plate, date and time and what he was wearing etc.!
This was a set-up because his old car actualyl did have damage to his bumper. They went in the station with medical documents, braces around their necks. (THE WHOLE WORKS)
What can YOU do? because this is realyl hard to prove since he was stalked and had a regular schedule from monday - friday. =)
Well. my dad was LUCKY!....
out of the blue, the girls reported that the accident happened on MAR 13... and they cleraly saw his license plate. BUT my dad actualyl changed his plate on MAR12 and one of the procedure is that you have to submit your old plates to get the new ones. =) AND on the very same day. he got a parking ticket that clearly states the NEW LICENSE plate.
reallly scary because if the case went through, you can just imagine the damages you have to pay!. oh my

Well, I would imagine you could counter with witnesses of your own, have them take paint samples off your car to show they would'nt match the other persons vehicle. Do some investigating on the other person to see if they've done this before. I'm sure there are others, just wait till one of the Cops on the site see's this. I'm sure they've got hundreds of things you could do.

Yup, that's conspiracy to commit insurance fraud! In Cali it's punishable by up to 5 years in prison and/or 25,000 fine. I remember one guy I worked with did that. Him and his buddy set it up so they could repaint both their cars but they did it in their neighborhood. When the insurance interviewed the neighbors to see if they saw anything one testified that he had seen them do it on purpose. I don't exactly know how, maybe they hit them with their fists or kicked the cars, I don't know, but they got caught and they almost went to jail. I don't really know what happened in the end but I don't think the guy went to jail.
