23,000 Miles. Ouch

About 14 months now. Poor Civic has over 23,000 miles. I drive an awful lot. Anyways. I'm not the most gentle to my car. I don't beat it like some people beat their cars mind you, but it just doesn't seem like my car has the pep that it used to.. It seems now when I get into higher RPM's, instead of the car roaring, it sounds like it's blowing a kidney and it just doesn't seem to pull like it used to. I dunno if it's just my stock headers, intake, exhaust wearing out, maybe my clutch is weak. Anyone notice similar things? Also how can you tell if you are having clutch problems or tranny problems? I do not experince anything like clutch slip, but like I said it just doesn't seem to pull through all the gears like it used to like about mid range RPMs I get like this resistance keeping it from pulling hard all the way through... So like I said I dunno if maybe my clutch, or tranny is messed up, or if my exhaust system is tired. Any help would be sweet.. . thanks guys..

There are a multitude of things that could go wrong to cause loss of power. If you are really concerned about it and have some extra money, you could take it to your Honda dealership and tell them about the problem. They have a computer they will hook your car up to that will "troubleshoot" the engine and identify a problem or problems.

Check the basics: Air filter, spark plugs--clean these, if they have deposits on them, then go have the injectors cleaned. After that, it gets more involved and expen$ive...

No its not that your tranny or your clutch is slipping it just that you are so use too your car! You just need to get more parts, you are just getting use to it. I got my car like 7 or 8 months ago and I have already 19 thousand on it. I love my car, I just need alot more parts for it!

I was kinda wondering that too. Maybe I'm just used to my car and after this long I'm starting to realize it really doesn't have much power. So I get worried and depressed. Maybe all I need is a tune up. . With some aftermarket parts. I wish I had more $$'s though.

I don't think my car will ever see over 20,000. I've had it for about 18 months now and have around 15,000 miles and am in the market for something bigger...

I agree with that opinion to a "t." That is what happens after you have had a car for awhile. You just get used to it. I don't think anything is wrong at tall.

1)check spark plug
2)may need a valve adjust
3)change your air filter(if dirty), oil change(when is the last time you have oil change?), fuel filter if needed
4)clean fuel injector at dealer(not those cheap bottle u see in walmart, it mays work in the begining but the left over will stay inside your gas tank)

thats all i can think of. the best bet is spark plug and have valve check up

Mine has over 46,000 miles and seems to be as "strong" as it ever was. Getting ready to pile on another couple of thousand miles - going to North Carolina in a few minutes. Was going to trade for a used Accord- got laid off - so me and the Civic will be sticking together for some time to come

Well I gots a lots of you beat, I got 30k in a little over a year. Damn, the warranty is almost out, dang, that means time to get modding I changed the plugs to Denso Iridiums at about 5000 miles and it still pulls like the day i drove it off the lot.
