EX or LX??
i don't know if anyone has asked this question or not, but my concerns are: 1. EX has sunroof and cd player which i don't want, so i don't want to pay the extra money. 2. But i also notice LX's engine doesn't have V-tech? is it gonna make big difference in acceleration and speed? 3. I am planning to add Turbo in the future, does having V-Tech increase Turbo's performance? I am a real newbie to the tuning car so can some1 give me some insighs? thx
well, if you want to mod your car. theres more parts that ex models can have. i mean, it comes w/ a sunroof.....big deal, dont use it.and the cd player, change it out. and theres a difference w the horsepower of course. lx has 115 and the ex has 127. its up to you though

I heard vtec interferes with the turbo, so the LX has a better chance.....
Just go with the EX... you get ABS (for rain!!), sunroof (emergency escape), vtec (barely anything..haha), and some other features.

I have a LX, wich in fact is a EX without VTEC only, I have ABS and all that you can have on the EX. Personaly, after 1 year 9 months with my LX, I'd go for a EX, I drove both, and prefer to have VTEC. Note that not everybody can affort a turbo or blower...

I have an EX, My GF has an LX, and my brother has an HX. The feel and acceleration of the EX is much better in my opinion. I got my 2002 for $15222 in May. Shop around, people will give u deals.

Having owned both the LX and the EX there are only 3 day to day differences that are really detectable, the sunroof (EX), the gas mileage(LX), and the abs(EX).
There is little differences in the speed of the two cars. Additionally I would propose that this is not the car to buy if you are looking for speed. Buy a used SI, WRX, Spec V, MazdaSpeed Protoge, SVT focus, 1.8t, etc... if you are looking for the go juice, cause it's just not happening with the 7th gens (other than a cost prohibative k20).

If ur gonna get an lx get a black 1 cuz d side mirror is color matched. if ur gonna get ne other color, then get the ex. personally i like the sunroof/moonroof. why??? u ask. i dont know. it looks cooler, when its popped up. ill post pics soon. BUT, if u want powa, go for Celica GTS lol j/k

It depends on what your going to use it for. If your hoping for a Race Car, and you think by getting an EX with the VTEC is gonna do it, you are sorely mistaken. Think, am I gonna even use the Sunroof where I live and I think you can get the ABS on the LX. There is a price difference between both, and you have to weigh the Pro's and Con's between both. I myself do alot of stop and go driving and I live in an extremely HOT city. So, I decided to save some money and go with the LX Auto. But that's me.......

I'm not modding my engine so I wish I had the Ex for the ABS. I have the Lx and love it, other than trying to break in the snow. I'd go with the Lx as Grey said if you are modding it with a turbo or blower, lower compression is better.
before you buy the civic of your choice, be informed that the car is an economy car and you might get disappointed with its hp, then start complaining in this site that your civic is slow. if you are going to get a new civic, i suggest you wait for a while until the 2003 model comes uot. that model has more add ons compared to 01-02 models. if you don't want moonroof but you like v-tec engine, you can buy an lx then have an engine swap. but that will be too costly. i suggest you buy an ex instead, or better yet, buy an rsx. just my 2cents.
SOHC VTEC is nothing to brag about. If I was buying my car all over again I would have went with the LX, simply because I would have saved more money. With the 2003, the LX will be getting most of the features the EX had in 2001. Basically its all about what you want in the car...go to the dealer and look each other..test drive and decide.
nobody's mentioned the ex has 15 inch tires versus 14 inchers for the lx. no biggie if you were going to get new tires and wheels but if not, some girls say that that extra inch makes a HUUUUUUUUUUUGGEE difference.
the 2003 ex model also comes with alloy wheels rather than the hubcaps on the 2002 ex. the 2003 lx has a cd player standard so no longer just a ex benefit.

You have ABS and a moonroof? Did you DIY? Did you have it installed by the dealer? What's up?[hr]
