The ever popular gas mileage.....
Wuz up peeps..... I know this topic has come up several times but i just had 2 ask cuz i couldnt find ne body who drives in a city that has 2 many god damn hills. I do the majority of my drivin in Tallahassee. I just finished filling up again. The odometer read 201 and the fuel light was on. It took 10.773 gallons 2 fill it up. Now going by the formula i've seen my mpg came out 2 18 which is horrible. I'm wonderin if its b/c of the hills also its a lot of stop and go type drivin because everythin is within a 5 to 10 minute drive. I have an intake and 16" rims, i know the intake has an effect but my mpg shouldnt be this bad.. What do u guys think??? What can i do to get this up???

I drive in the city to and from work. My commute is about 15 miles both ways. There is some stop and go. I also have I/H/E. I get above 30 miles per gallon. I usually refill at around 350 and it takes about 11 gallons.
I would try shifting at around 3000k rpms unless you have to get up those hills.

Well, I appear to have a CAI anomoly... My MPG has been steadily going up since I put it on... I just broke 36. Stop and go will have something to do with it since you burn more gas accelerating, but certainly not 18 MPG. Shifting at 3000 will help (assuming manual), keeping it in as high a gear as you can, but if it doesn't go back up into the high 20's or 30's, I'd get it looked at. Also How old is it??? I know the first few weeks I had mine, it got crummy mileage, then as the engine got going, it improved considerably.
Well, I don't have too many hills in Minneapolis, but I'll let ya know my gas mileage for kicks - I usually get 38 mpg from my normall driving style of pushing out some higher revs now and then. On the highway I've gotten 42 mpg. I can get used to this!

i have the same problem too, only get like 200 miles a tank, i thought i was trippin so i measured it and now i only have half a tank with 100 miles... i know i have 18s but damn 200 miles a tank is riduculous..
n damnit i'm tired of people telling us how they get 300-400 miles a tank. all those other threads about crappy gas is full of this and no real answers

I get about 300-350 on about 1.05 gallons of gas. It is all really dependent on you're driving habits and the area you're driving on. If you're driving primerily on hilly areas, expect that you're milage will be less.

im gettin sh*tty milage cuz my muffler shop is stupid and took out my cat. so im runnin lean as a ****. this is a rough estimate, but i'll probably get around 280miles by empty.. and all i have is the exhaust.
I'm going to need more information about your driving style before I tell you why it sucks. Like, what RPM are you shifting at? I've had people ask me why they're getting crap gas mileage when they're redlining like a ****. My driving style, I drive normally, meaning I shift at 3,000 RPM 95% of the time. I use the A/C all the time. 75% if my miles is stop'n'go city style for about 15 miles each way from work. I usually fill up around 320 on the odometer, and takes about 10 gallons. I have an exhaust and CAI. I have also noticed that either not downshifting or downshifting via RPM matching is better for gas mileage. Why? Downshifting like most of you guys do causes the RPM to rev higher than it would have normally. More revolutions per minute = more gas burned. So, shift at 3,000 RPM, learn to downshift properly, and get those mods that help increase MPG.

i have an auto, hardly have ac on, stop n go driving but some highway, 18s, not other mods that would effect gas, shift around 3.5k 95% of the time, still only get 200 miles a tank. i think imma take it to the dealer

I shift 90% of the time at 3k RPM. Almost never use my AC, stock everything. I get like 27-28 MPG
I drive around in Oakland, where there's a whole bunch of stop-and-go traffic. But still, that's below what my car's supposed to get. Feel cheated out.
